FATE (Focus Assessed Transthoracic Echocardiography) is the original focused echocardiography protocol practiced since 1989 as a supplement to the clinical evaluation. FATE is easily and quickly learned and meets the basic echocardiographic needs for the non-cardiologist in order to guide cardiopulmonary optimization in all relevant clinical scenarios and locations. FATE can be performed in few seconds or extended to a more comprehensive echocardiographic examination depending on the clinical requirements.
