Plex for Android (v. 2.2.3.3) Разработано Plex, Inc. |
Welcome to Plex!
Plex in a nutshell is a media platform that runs on Macs, PCs and Linux that is capable of organizing your media so that it can be viewed by any Plex Client in a beautiful to see and easily navigable form. In addition to allowing you to view all of your music, photos and videos it allows you to get to online content from many of your favorite online providers from the comfort of your couch using just a remote control - no need to type all that "www" mumbo-jumbo... no need to sit through an entire newscast for the weather. This is the best of both worlds.
Plex currently supports over 200 Channels including CNET, YouTube, Vimeo, Revision3 and many other popular online sources. With Plex Media Server for Mac you can stream additional content from Aperture, iPhoto, and iTunes.
Plex for Android of course works WITH your Plex Media Server to offer up your music, video and photos on your mobile device! Plex Players are available for Windows, Mac, Samsung TVs, Roku, Android and more...
--

2. Test it out... make sure it works locally with either the Mac or Windows client player (aka Plex Media Center) running on the same machine.
3. Get Plex for Android - try first on your home network... and Enjoy!

[2013-01-23] A Google User: Doesn't work Does no connect to my plex server |
[2013-01-22] A Google User: Awesome I have tried a thousand streaming aps and this just blows them all away! For one thing, it just works! |
[2013-01-22] A Google User: Best a-z media solution And I have tried them all. Needs sync. |
[2013-01-21] A Google User: Best paid for app I have... I love this app, especially when we all want to watch something different. The only thing that would make this 100%, (and its 98% now), is a way to lock the screen from finger presses or swipes. The default media player on my Samsung S3 you can lock screen by pressing power once, and then again to unlock, this works brilliantly. The reason I request this is my little boy gets very touch happy when watching cartoons on my Nexus 7, and keeps turning off or fast forwarding the cartoon and not watching it, and then gets cross as the program is finished. Anyhoo, just to let you know I have purchased this twice for 2 different Google accounts, mine and my wife's. Great job keep up the good work! |
[2013-01-21] A Google User: Mytouch 4g slide Awesome, freegin awesome |
[2013-01-20] A Google User: Only works on network This app works great as long as both my home computer and my phone are connected to the same network. The issue is that the whole point of this app is to access files when away from my computer. I try to connect over 4g at remote locations and just get a load signal endlessly. Maybe im doing something wrong. |
[2013-01-19] A Google User: Great app One of the best apps on the market |
[2013-01-17] A Google User: Newest not working on JB phone Latest version not working for me. Doesn't remove things I've deleted, tried everything. Wish this worked as good as Qloud. I still agree though that those who paid for the software should be included in beta testing future versions and shouldn't have to pay additionally for this with a Plexpass. |
[2013-01-17] A Google User: Works perfectly. Great app. Does exactly what it says that it will do. |
[2013-01-17] A Google User: Good for videos ... not for music So I have a massive library of music and videos. I update my video collection with recent releases often. his is great for accessing them while I am on break at work over night etc. from my phone or android tab. Streaming movies to my Sony gs7 gtv unit is choppy. I applaud the surround sound being transmitted. The music streams with great quality from my mac mini. The latest update seems to have made playback a bit more choppy over the local network. I downloaded originally with hopes of streaming music through my phone. however the music browser is just not usable. I would at the least like a "SHUFFLE ALL " option in the music selection. I stream over 4g onto my car via Bluetooth and dont mind skipping a song if I dont like it. With 50k + songs at my disposal, I am sure I wont have to worry about hearing the same song too often. |
[2013-01-17] A Google User: don't waste your money this app is buggy beyond belief. I couldn't get it to play any channels on my PLEX server. After hours on geek forums playing with various settings I gave up. Useless . |
[2013-01-16] A Google User: Love plex Use this all the time. Use with my HTPC and stream to my phone while at the office. Transcodes over my sprint 3g network with only seldom hitches. Love Plex. Best app on Android IMO |
[2013-01-16] A Google User: Potential This could be an outstanding app. The server is incredible and works great with other clients. Unfortunately this isn't one of those clients. Updates for bug fixes are near non-existent and features just don't happen. To further frustration there is no real communication with the developments of the app, just the occasional "it's coming". |
[2013-01-15] A Google User: It just works! No fuss set up and I was successfully watching a movie on my nexus 10 tethered to my Galaxy Nexus on the other side of the country served up from my home laptop on a wifi router! Brilliant! |
[2013-01-15] A Google User: Awesome app!!! Probably the best on the go app out there :) |
[2013-01-15] A Google User: No go, on my HTC DNA Worked great on Galaxy S3 though. |
[2013-01-14] A Google User: Not happy at all It looks like the app is getting worse how the time goes by.Its still the easest way to stream to Android but the app has alot bugs and its terrible slow. |
[2013-01-14] A Google User: Plex Does what is says on the tin! Great app |
[2013-01-13] A Google User: Solid app, but some bugs On the Galaxy Note II and the Galaxy S3, there appears to a problem with resuming video: it asks you if you wish to resume playing at a specified time; however, even if you select for it to do so, it stills plays from the beginning. Furthermore, certain videos are displayed in anamorphic mode (stretched vertically to fit the screen) with no apparent means to correct it; there are also audio sync issues with some but not all videos. None of the above issues are present when using the Nexus 7. For the Nexus 7 i would give this 5 stars, for the Galaxy Note II and Galaxy S3, i have given it 3 stars until these issues are remedied. |
[2013-01-12] A Google User: Awesome Streams decent video from my home server quite nicely. Only wobble is that the android client doesn't buffer very much, so it's pretty choppy on slow/unstable connections. |
[2013-01-12] A Google User: Doesn't work often This app is very unpredictable. Sometimes it works, usually it doesn't. I keep getting "unexpected errors", except anymore I do expect them. |
[2013-01-11] A Google User: Not worth the $ Frequent force closes, unwieldy user interface, and general program failures on the PC side makes this a 5 star program if it were free, but only 2 stars for the price. Unfortunately, there aren't many other options available. |
[2013-01-10] A Google User: Ugly and slow Not what I was expecting from the Plex team. Major letdown. |
[2013-01-10] A Google User: Nice UI, but buggy. I paid 5$ for an application that is hardly useable. I have not used it once without receiving error notifications and being asked to send error reports. It crashes quite often and loses connection. It also disconnects my device from the internet, a problem that I also have on the iPad version. If it were a free application I would be able to put up with it but not for an expensive app that allows me to connect to my own server that was set up using free software. The UI is nice but these errors need fixing. |
[2013-01-10] A Google User: Crappy App & Crappy Customer service I got this app for Google Nexus 10 tablet and it does not work. I get the error "There is problem playing video". I went to plex forum and other forums for help and emailed customer service. I uploaded plex server log files as instructed but nobody helped whatsoever. I installed plex server on Synology NAS and it did not work. I installed it on Win7 still did not work. I asked for refund & i'm waiting for 2 weeks and they are not refunding. The compatibility of this app sucks. customer service sucks. STAY AWAY and save your time & money. |
[2013-01-10] A Google User: Awesome Idea, failed execution. Finally usable after a few updates. Extremely polished interface. Player could stand to be improved as tracking is wonky. A preload indicator would help as well. Bluetooth is raw media profile only no controls not great for music because of this. |
[2013-01-08] A Google User: This is a great start Currently this app is doing exactly what I need it to do, which is give me access to my plex server. I have high hopes for this as plex evolves. |
[2013-01-08] A Google User: Needs Slideshow Feature on Pictures Please add a slideshow feature for viewing home photographs. Also, after viewing a picture from an album, when you hit done to go back to the album it starts again from the very start of the album, please change so that it is from the last image viewed. Otherwise an Excellent application which works fantastic for movies and TV streaming. With the above changes, it would be 5 stars. Thank you |
[2013-01-07] A Google User: Not working after last update Not working period after last update. Need help? Good luck these guys maintain a "contact us" section that allows you to "chat" with other frustrated customers. Save yourself the trouble and go with something else. Not working for my roku, iphone, and galaxy s3 |
[2013-01-06] A Google User: One problem which makes plex useless to me In transcode mode, the zoom function button does not work and the resolution is all messed up. I have asked for a refund but so far I have not gotten any reply or feedback from them. |
[2013-01-06] A Google User: Needs better functionality for Google TV Update (01/05/13): Transcoding is much better. Still too much crashes on Google TV. My DSLR photos look like 5 mega pixel photos. Please please fix the photo issue. I am using a synology ds412+ which is fast, when I use their inbuilt media server photos display fine. There are no repeat function and no playlist feature, basic features that are needed. |
[2013-01-06] A Google User: Plex Plex Plex!!! Please add subtitles support (hebrew). What about the edit mode via the app itself same ability as via the web? Thank you so much for the Samsung Smart TV app!!!!! |
[2013-01-05] A Google User: Outstanding Latest update is so smooth. Love it. Fantastic. |
[2013-01-04] A Google User: This app. is awesome! Here's a quick review - awesome! I was looking for a media server that could stream a lot of my .mkv files of 720p and 1080p and this does just that straight to my Samsung Galaxy Note II. Now I don't need to do any converting unless I want to carry the video on my SD card. I had a little problems with creating the server itself, but I went on the chat room and someone helped me out. Luckily for me, I have unlimited mobile carrier data so I will be streaming a lot through 4G (in the city); be careful about your data if you plan to do the same and are limited. I plan on checking other media devices that may also use this such as XBox360 or PS3. I will give an updated review should I need to change my stars or provide some much needed information. As I didn't know, the system that has the media server on it needs to be on at all times; for me, it is my desktop. |
[2013-01-04] A Google User: Awesome Works great, my only issue is streaming itunes will bug out everyother song or so. Video is perfect. |
[2013-01-04] A Google User: Works great Stream movies and TV over the internet, it's like my personal netflix! |
[2013-01-03] A Google User: Would be excellent but doesn't work on transformer infinity On my devices (windows phone 7 as well) the connection even over LAN is unreliable but remotely it's non existent (I have fibre optic reliable broadband). The app itself is at best unresponsive (forces close on occasions) and the video playback is is good until you want to forward or rewind, it'll then just freeze for ever (or until I lose patience). Some wtv (windows media center) files just play with no audio, the list goes on. This has great promise but needs a lot of work. On the positive side, dev did refund without a problem. Good on them! BTW the WP7 app works much better. |
[2013-01-03] A Google User: Love it A must for any Plex user. |
[2013-01-03] A Google User: Great app but.... This is a great app but I would like to see a better remote, this is by far nothing like the iPhone version which is by miles better and more functional. What is up with that? I know that android is not as big a money maker in the app store then iOS but this is crazy. But all that said this is a good app and it does exactly what it says on the tin. Just a bit more parody across platforms would be nice. |
[2013-01-03] A Google User: Galaxy Tab 10.1 Excellent app and media server! The ablity to stream mkv files to my tab was a very nice bonus. 5★s |
[2013-01-03] A Google User: I LOVE Plex but... ...this just doesn't work for me. I get my videos all over the house in AMAZING quality using the Plex server and Plex apps for Roku and Samsung. The hi-def just doesn't look as good on the tablet. I messed with settings but nothing helps. I'm better off using BS Player in LAN mode and I get hi-def quality. The only good part of this is that I know where I left off when I don't finish a show. I'm not returning it cuz I love Plex and want to support the devs, but I hope that a future update will help. |
[2013-01-02] A Google User: The Best Media Center app bar none. |
[2013-01-01] A Google User: Constant can't play error Uninstall! |
[2012-12-31] A Google User: Perfect, but.. I love Plex so much, though I wish that the mobile application was as beautiful as the desktop interface. |
[2012-12-31] A Google User: Nexus 4 & 7 |
[2012-12-30] A Google User: Awsome Totally saves my home theatre ! |
[2012-12-30] A Google User: Amazing app Makes my phone the center of my media world! |
[2012-12-29] A Google User: Excellent Works just as it should. It connects fast and streams really well, it just needs a few more features to be perfect. |
[2012-12-29] A Google User: Very cool app Plays all movies I tried from the PC on my tablet. The only issue is, while transcoding, it prints some time marks on screen over the movie. They disappear in a few minutes, but the beginning of the movie is not viewable |
[2012-12-27] A Google User: Amazing This is the best streaming advancement to date. Unreal! |
[2012-12-27] A Google User: Great app Best home video app ever paired up with my Linux Plex server. |
[2012-12-27] A Google User: Slick slick slick. You need this if you want to play video If you aren't scared by installing server software and the like then this is essential- a very slick media player interface. Only grumble is that this doesn't show as a Plex Media Center so you cannot use other android devices as remote controls to pause, change volume etc. |
[2012-12-27] A Google User: Amazing. Even plays audio for surround sound movie sources when normal DLNA clients fail. Not to mention tracking last-play position and marking as viewed so you can keep in sync between clients. |
[2012-12-26] A Google User: NO streaming Was hoping to replace Samsung Allshare. See no advantage here. Cannot stream from an from my laptop through my Android device to my TV. The Samsung app will not sort into sub folders. |
[2012-12-26] A Google User: Best app I have ever bought It still need some ui change. I like to use the folder view and need top scroll through a list of options before I cam use it. Needs the ability to customize the UI |
[2012-12-26] A Google User: Okay app but overall solution is not for me Plex is an awesome app, looks very slick. But the server is way too slow to respond and to index/refresh content. Uninstalling. Will be using Serviio from now on, much faster but UI is not as nice. |
[2012-12-24] A Google User: crap... so far this is garbage, it works great on my Roku 2 XS for streaming, even does it flawlessly, but with my rikomagic rockchip mini Droid PC it resets, has issues connected to server, quits, crashes, when clicking on a movie link it crashes, when clicking on movie links it goes to settings, when clicking on movies it starts the program over... These are random issues click the same movie twice and it does two different things, and both are not playing the movie you selected. Got any pointers? Thanks... Dont get my wrong I love this app on my roku 2 xs but here its not so good... |
[2012-12-24] A Google User: Video does not transcode I'm disappointed that this does not work on my new Nexus 4. When attempting to play a movie, it just errors and says cannot transcode after waiting like 2+ minutes. Though the iPad version is working great but this android version is buggy, slow, and doesn't work! :( please fix! |
[2012-12-23] A Google User: Changed the way I watch video. Great app for watching my videos. Looking forward to plexsync in the future, that will allow the videos to be saved to my Nexus 7 for when away from home. Would like the ability to mark as watched on device though. Hopefully it is in the roadmap as well. |
[2012-12-23] A Google User: Not fully baked yet. Purchased because myPlex is great. And the plex Roku channel is great and I wanted to support the devs. But this app is not ready for primetime. Blocks the UI thread constantly causing the force close dialog to pop up a lot. The biggest annoyance right now is the setting to "Play on this device, a remote PMS, or ask every time" does nothing. The app always plays on the Android device's screen. I want to use the app to select what to play to the plex OSX app that's driving my TV. Why have the setting if it does nothing? |
[2012-12-23] A Google User: Plex Love Plex...... Love How it builds the metadata and organizes your movie and tv media |
[2012-12-23] A Google User: Remote function doesn't work on HP Touchpad ICS The remote function simply does not work on the HP touchpad running ICS. Everything else is nice but the lack of remote function makes it a 2 star. Please fix so I can give this app a 5-star rating! |
[2012-12-22] A Google User: Fantastic -- like everything else about Plex Worked great on the Moto Triumph, now working great on the Nexus 7. Not so good on my underpowered Optimus V. As a longtime Plex media server user (since the day they published their first pre-release for Linux) I'm surprised at the folks having problems. Across various laptops of various vintages, streaming to my wife's iPad, a WD set top box, and a few different Android devices, the only time streaming from Plex Media Server has been a problem for me has been when the client device has been underpowered - though perhaps I've just been lucky with the Android devices I've run it on. |
[2012-12-21] A Google User: Great. I9000 on CM10 |
[2012-12-21] A Google User: Waste of time and money Plex is frustratingly annoying. Uninstall. |
[2012-12-19] A Google User: Works great! Streaming my movies! |
[2012-12-18] A Google User: Awsome app |
[2012-12-18] A Google User: Brilliant |
[2012-12-16] A Google User: Subtitles! My Samsung Smart TV supports subtitles on plex but not the Android ver? |
[2012-12-16] A Google User: Update broke music playback for me Updated to the latest version, now music playback over 3g is broken. GS3. Works on work phone which I didn't upgrade. Droid razr |
[2012-12-16] A Google User: Best media streaming solution Streams over 3g &4g works perfect once you forward ports on your roster and modem. Let's me watch my movies and TV on the go. I can adjust quality in the app in case my connection isn't so hot. |
[2012-12-14] A Google User: Great interface Pretty smooth |
[2012-12-14] A Google User: Never finds media server over 3G So frustrating. Works fine over WiFi. Sucks over 3G. |
[2012-12-14] A Google User: Former Subsonic user loving Plex I am a longtime XBMC user (the core for plex) who had been using subsonic server for remote video viewing. But with the death of flash on android and subsonics delay in moving to html5, I tried Plex... and I Love It. I would like some more sorting methods on the android app similar to XBMC methods (lists, tiles, media info) but not a deal breaker by any means. This is worth every penny. |
[2012-12-13] A Google User: Does not connect outside of home network Does not connect outside of home network |
[2012-12-13] A Google User: Fantastic Plex is just amazing. I use it for all my media watching at home on all TV's and works great on the phone. Love it. |
[2012-12-12] A Google User: Awesome Keep the updates coming :) |
[2012-12-12] A Google User: Great tool in need of visual overhaul Plex is a great tool. I use it on both Android and Roku. My Android experience is so-so as more often than not, when on 4G, it won't connect to the server. Other times like right now it does it without any problem at all. Outside of that it functions well but could really use a visual makeover to get inline with Android design standards. |
[2012-12-10] A Google User: Missing media Won't show all my media. Galaxy Note 2 on Sprint (Plex server on Mac Snow Leopard) |
[2012-12-10] A Google User: Avoid Slow and buggy. Doesn't normally work...even over WiFi. When it does...don't try pausing or fastfowarding as you'll lose audio sync. Really a poor app that used to be OK. |
[2012-12-09] A Google User: Awesome app! Works great, easy to setup and even finds a pics and description of the files if there's none. A must have!!! |
[2012-12-08] A Google User: 0 stars. Too slow. Don't waste your $ or time. 0 stars. Too slow. Don't waste your $ or time. |
[2012-12-07] A Google User: Sweet App Got to say I love this app I use it all the time to look at my movies that I have on my pc nice Job Plex |
[2012-12-06] A Google User: Plex There was an update for Plex Media Server (Linux). After updating my server, my previous issues are gone. Thith app kickth aaatttthhhhh (lispy). Even better, now Plex for GoogleTV is functioning smooth too. Better go review that now... |
[2012-12-05] A Google User: Amazing app! I absolutely love it! |
[2012-12-05] A Google User: can't connect When not on my home network, plex keeps trying and trying to connect with no success. If not for that, I love Plex. |
[2012-12-04] A Google User: Doesn't stream everything I prefer using a NAS like Synology, then stream with MX Player... Plex seems to have trouble playing some codecs still. |
[2012-12-04] A Google User: Sound Sync Sucks I want my $5 back. The sound is rarely in sync with the video and I really can't stand watching tv like this. Had to go back to copying videos to the phone. AV offset slider does nothing.... This is on Galaxy Nexus. |
[2012-12-02] A Google User: Great Greater |
[2012-12-02] A Google User: 5/5 Stars! Must have if you a plex user |
[2012-12-02] A Google User: Terrible The metadata is nice but it is VERY choppy on Razr Maxx and Nook. I haven't even tried 3G/4G. Sometimes no picture. Plays about 4 seconds then I get the next pack. You may think my network is slow but I can stream just fine using MotoCast or on PS3. Unuseable. I'm out $9.98. Doesn't even play well on the PC. |
[2012-12-01] A Google User: Impressive app Very impressive application. Long time windows media center user with Xbox 360 extenders, and this app with plex media delivers a comparable experience and is nice because it allows playback/browsing on multiple device platforms. Worth the money. |
[2012-12-01] A Google User: Rubbish Slow slow slow. Works great on pc and through Roku. I have not been able to watch anything on my phone while at home on my wireless network. |
[2012-11-30] A Google User: Ok Works pretty well, but does not allow to resume where I left off or skip ahead. Phone calls etc interrupt playback and then I have to start over. |
[2012-11-30] A Google User: Not bad but The server doesn't run properly on Linux (Ubuntu) no matter what their website states... otherwise would be a five Star app... |
[2012-11-28] A Google User: Catch up! I love using plex and would recommend it to anyone setting up a home theater but the android app seriously needs to catch up with the iOS app! I would love to use gestures and all the features iOS has, I also think that this app needs to proper tablet support also not just stretched to fit on the screen |
[2012-11-28] A Google User: Good start but needs improving The features address good but it still has some way to go. I bought to support the devs but features like offline access are sorely needed for countries like Australia where always on access is not a reality. The interface could also do with as major update add per the Google app guidelines. |
[2012-11-28] A Google User: I use Plex daily, a must have. I use Plex daily on my Nexus 7 to stream media over my lunch hour. Without it, I would be very bored. It works great. I'm extremely happy. Keep up the great work. |
[2012-11-27] A Google User: The best period This app succeeds where so many fail. It streams to all my devices flawlessly and doubles as a remote for my media center. Get it you won't regret it. |
[2012-11-27] A Google User: Crap Doesn't want to stream any video from the plex server package installed on my synology nas |
