[2012-03-11] Cristan: Works great after a little setup! I installed this on my galaxy s2 and it streams my videos, including .mkv with subtitles and .mp4 files perfectly and clearly with no buffering! The windows program was easy to install but my only complaint was that I had to go into my router settings and open up ports for it to work. If I hadn't already known how to do that I would have been very frustrated. Everybody might not have to do that though. Overall I love it and I'm considering buying the full version to get rid of the ads on the top without having to click on them. |

[2012-03-10] Tushar: Nice This App works well with my Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc and Samsung Galaxy S2 |
[2012-03-09] Viet: Wow Works perfectly on sensation over WiFi, plays everything I've thrown at it |
[2012-03-08] Ntgeek: Great start Does well and is fast. Does not respect aspect ratios and pegs CPU 100% when transcoding. Look at qloud instead. Can run as service and plays most format. No ISO support but that's minimal. |
[2012-03-01] Omar: Doesn't work I can get through the folders but it won't play anything, keeps saying "something went wrong".....I'm using 3g network on sprint through Samsung galaxy S2 epic 4G touch. |
[2012-02-28] Ivyam: Ivyam |
[2012-02-27] Marcus Roberto: Simply doesn't work! The advantage of Air Video (which I use in my iPod touch) is that is extremely simple! You install it on the device, install on the computer and watch it! Simple! This app never worked because all my videos are separated inside folders separated by tv show or categories. The app just DOESN'T SHOW ANY FOLDER!!! It's ridiculous! Do I have the share every single folder? There are more then 300!!!! Just doesn't have the simplicity, the "just works" of the Aur Video. Disappointed! |
[2012-02-20] Anonymous: Emit works Best way to watch my network videos so far |
[2012-02-18] Lucavi: Works like a charm! (T-Mobile G2) Streams videos from my hard drive to my Android over my home WiFi network or my cellular 3G/4G network.Super easy to set up. You only need to download a small server app for your desktop computer.Once you tell it which folder contains your videos it stays in the system tray. The remaining procedure is similar to syncing a Bluetooth headset to your phone. The program on your desktop gives you a pin that you type in on the Emit Android app. You are given the option to setup a password that you have to type in on your Android every time you connect. That's pretty much it. If you want to watch your videos while on a WiFi network that's different from the network your computer is on (your 3G/4G network) you will have to setup your router to forward a few ports. Their website has pictures demonstrating how to do this. Very easy, just make sure to forward all of them. Google how to "forward a port range" and your router. If you stop watching and come back to the same file later it will remember your place so you can pick up where you left off. It even plays files with audio encoded in 5.1 which a lot of other players had trouble with. Add supported "credit" idea is clever. |

[2012-01-27] lehite: Server issues App is great, but server stops working occasionally. Causes all network (smb, etc) to stop working entirely. Cant get through a 40 minute tv episode. |
[2012-01-23] Ting: Stop Worked for a week. Now it stopped working. |
[2012-01-22] Jeff: Very good but can be better |
[2012-01-20] amjad: Great app Nothing like this hope it evolves, need to improve copying to device Gets stuck sometimes |
[2012-01-12] Pavlo: Emit Server will not load Tried versions 1.8 and 1.82 on Windows 7 (in all compatibility modes) on two different machines. Also tried installing on a windows XP SP 3 machine. Running Emit causes a window to pop up for about 1/10 of a second and then disappear. Windows task manager claims Emit.exe *32 and its cousin erl.exe are still running. So, what is it doing behind the scenes without displaying a window on the desktop? I paid $3.50 for the Android app to avoid ads based on so many "good" reviews here. Beware. DO NOT PAY for this POS and, from what I can tell from the others who somehow did manage to get this to work, the free Emit App is nothing more than a spam conduit to your desktop and phone! |
[2012-01-11] John: Only partially worked Only worked over WiFi, 3g never worked despite good connectivity. Just buffered and timed out. |
[2012-01-08] Sir Goldbond: First test of free version.. Positive: I was hesitant to install yet another server side app with yet more ports open for this application. But, I have to say that thus far, I am impressed. I only ran into one hicup on the install which is documented on the designer forums where http live streaming needed to be turned off. The overhead on my media server is next to nil. While streaming a movie, only 4.7 k used that I could see. Streaming on medium quality (recommended) is quite smooth and picture quality is quite good. I have not tested over 3g as of yet but anxious to do so. All my testing has been on 2 Onda VI10 Deluxe tablets. Negative: 2 tablets concurrently do not work..well. Could be HP on my network. But, thought DIR-655 could handle it. Having serious issues with MKV's. They are not loading. MP4 and AVI seem fine. I need to read up some more and check forums to see if there is a setting in the mountain of options to change. The host for updates and dl seems to have serious issues for updates. I received an update notice for 1.8.2 and don't think it is pulling from Marketplace as it keeps dying.. |
[2012-01-07] Dan: Nice idea, needs work Doesn't stream nearly as smoothly as Airvideo on iphone, and aspect ratios are all wrong on the streaming vids |
[2012-01-05] Igor: Nice idea, but doesn't work with me Music works.. well, sometimes. None of videos works. I have tried avi and mkv with divx, h.264, dv, uncompressed, dvd folder, mpeg2... none worked. The app insists that "something went wrong" |
[2012-01-02] Rex: Fc Fc a lot |
[2011-12-28] John: Does what it says Able to stream my videos very well. CPU gets pegged to the Max though which unfortunately I have a bad fan which shut off my pc. Not sure if there was an update or not, but I don't have to refresh the folder as I traverse down the folders. |
[2011-12-26] Michael: Great. Very easy to use compared to other streaming apps. |
[2011-12-24] H: Ics update Emit stutters now since updating to ics and latest emit update. Using nexus s. Pls fix. Was working great on gb. |
[2011-12-24] Justin: Works great.....For 10mins After installing the server and getting it up and running, it seemed like it worked great. Saw all my movies, played everything quickly with great frame rate. However, after watching anything for more then 10mins, the app just drops back to the File Select Screen. I have to click the movie I was watching again and then scrub my way to where I was in the movie. This problem can happen anywhere between 5-10mins. My primary need for this is to watch my PC content while I'm on the Treadmill, and I shouldn't have to say that it gets annoying really quick having to stop every 5-10mins just to fix the movie. |
[2011-12-21] Perry: 5 stars Cm7 was not letting it take full screen, so I did not see slider. Now I see it. 5 stars. |
[2011-12-20] Jake: Works great This app is almost identical to AirVideo for iOS. Except it supports Android, iOS and has WP7 coming soon. I downloaded the free version first to test it out. Video streaming works great for heavy HD video files. This is where your local computer's CPU power comes in handy. The app uses FFMPEG to pre-encode the video to a smaller format, so it can easily stream the video to your device. As far as I know, the app doesn't save these mobile (pre-encoded) copies locally. Although I did see a setting to select a folder to save "pre-encoded" files. So I'm sure yet.. I know AirVideo did save mobile copies of the videos I streamed. 3G will work only as good as your mobile connection AND as your home connection allows. Considering you're streaming FROM your computer to your phone. You'll need good upstream (home) and downstream (phone). I had to open ports 1554 TCP/UDP and range TCP/UDP 2000-2006 manually. You should also make sure your firewall software "ignores" or marks the Emit server software as "trusted". As this WILL cause problems. It did on Airvideo, and it does on Emit. This app is good if you're willing to install server software. The 3G option can be disabled as well. |

[2011-12-20] abrown1982: Does not work Doesn't work on my phone, immediately closes after opening. |
[2011-12-08] Gr1ff1n: NOT WORKING worked brilliantly on Android and iPad for a while, but stopped working after server restart |
[2011-11-29] Chris: Galaxy Nexus Doesn't work on my phone, immediately closes after opening. |
[2011-11-27] Nicklas: Folder issues Good app, but one issue is that every time i start the cpu i have to remove and re-add folders to the cpu client to make them show on the phone |
[2011-11-24] Gail & Bob Alverson: This works great. I still have a problem with dvd folders playing the wrong audio track, but I have ways of skirting that issue. |
[2011-11-19] biggoon: Works well enough if you can get past your firewall! I had some difficulty getting my ESET firewall to understand that I was ok with this program, but after that, it works pretty well. |
[2011-11-19] Joshy George: Just what I wanted Works well for all movie formats. I had an issue with DVD 16:9 formats and the developer responded quickly with a fix. Samsung GS2 / 10.1 tab |
[2011-11-13] the 11/14/2011 This app rocks... Does exactly what it says, and only had one problem, that was fixed by a restart on the home computer. EVO3D. |
[2011-11-10] alderion: Got it working Opened the required ports in the firewall rather than the router... Viola |
[2011-11-04] Daniel: Dan This app is great. I think 4g is going to make this much better but works well on 3g too. |
[2011-10-28] Wihan: Excellent Great app. Just what i needed. Works with multiple devices at the same time. Easy to set up and runs in background. Thanks for this great app. |
[2011-10-27] sergiolopes: Nice video quality ... but subtitles didn't work properly with accents. There's no option to set subtitle encoding. And this free version has an annoying ad visible all the time. It sucks to watch a video with an ad on top of it. |
[2011-10-24] Will: Perfect I have been wanting air video on my android forever. It worked perfect on the first try! |
[2011-10-22] M7md D. Saad: Does what it's supposed to do flawlessly |
[2011-10-22] Scotty: Buggy The video freezes every couple minutes, and it also freezes my phone. I have to take the battery out just to restart. Droid incredible here. |
[2011-10-20] Dan: Completely froze my phone (S GS2) Tried to stream a tv show over my home network, and it said buffering.... until the screen timed out. I turned the screen back on and the phone was completely frozen. I had to take the battery out just to get it to turn back on. Do you need a completely full wifi signal to get it to work? |
[2011-10-17] Qida: Nice Wats missing is background playback. and maybe a widget :D |
[2011-10-14] Steve's getting an MBA: Overall Great but needs fixes Great remote video! Works great on wifi. Unfortunately force closes on 3g. Also pre encoding doesnt work. PLEASE fix! |
[2011-10-14] shadowcman: Exactly what I was looking for This app is exactly what I was looking for. It's extremely simple to use and it works very well. It buffers videos much quicker than any of the other apps I've tried (VLC Direct, Flux) and it has yet to act slow or crash. I'll most likely upgrade to the paid version because the ad on the video is a bit annoying but the app is so good I'm willing to look past it. |
[2011-10-13] aj: FC FC while on 3g after update. Please fix! |
[2011-09-23] Jay: Does what it says Works great for me (Xperia Play) Good quality and very little buffering. Super easy to setup and use. |
[2011-09-21] Eduardo: The best I have tried Its by far the best audio/video streaming app, others involve a bunch of steps to get them to work and don't even work. Plays a variety of files. |
[2011-09-20] Paul: Something went wrong??? Works well over wifi on local network. But whenever I try it over someone elses wifi or over 3g all I get is "something went wrong" very disapointing. |
[2011-09-14] Nuška: Simply the best app for video streaming out there. Latest updates took this great app even further... |
[2011-09-13] Cliff: Just Close over 3G When on wifi it ply fine but on 3G it starts the video but close it 2 seconds later. Need a fix |
[2011-09-12] James: Ok, needs tools like sync/multiple downloads, background playback and files within subfolders. Changing bitrate doesn't seem to have much effect. |
[2011-09-11] Gez Page: Absolute rubbish, cuts out video after 2 mins. Uninstalling |
[2011-09-08] Jarod: Developer responds to emails, and was able to help me get subtitles working |
[2011-09-05] Dullah: Worked perfectly. Try this if the server doesn't show up right away: check and uncheck the server running box on the desktop emit app. |
[2011-09-03] william: Stinks Every time I click vid it say SOMETHING WENT WRONG |
[2011-09-03] Dub: By far the best streaming app This is by far the best app I've came across to stream my files over local wifi or even 3g. The developer is very patient and will work with you if you have problems. I was having one and on XDA he sent me an email to contact him and it was eventually worked out (my issue at first is it only played on local wifi). I would highly recommend this to anyone. |
[2011-09-01] Rodolfo: Great App! You get all your media everywhere! I tested it on my atrix and on web browser, works flawless! |
[2011-09-01] Alan: Something went wrong....every time... on three different phone... |
[2011-08-31] schwiz: Remote fail Would be a 5 star app if you could connect remotely without generating a pin and relying on the emit server. Only really useful for local viewing |
[2011-08-25] Boardies: Works alright. Would prefer choice of 3rd party server (dlna/upnp) and 3rd party player support. Does what it says though |
[2011-08-20] Philly: "something went wrong" something went wrong message after 10 seconds on any video, even vids already in the phones native format..tried running server program with administrator access thinking it may be a codec permissions issue but same result. was thinking about buying but if the full version dos the same, it'll be a waste of money. LG Optimus One |
[2011-08-18] JunoonX: Awesome start This is shaping up to be a great contender to air video. HTTP streaming doesn't work on my g2x with cm7.1, but RTSP does. Only 4:3 ratio vdos though. |
[2011-08-14] silky: Excellent for free . used it for a month now and going to buy full version |
[2011-08-12] Chris: Wtf I think its a violation of the tos of any ad network to promise something for clicking ads. Then it took my "ad free video" when "something went wrong |
[2011-08-10] bADiTCH: Works great on SE X10 with Froyo. |
[2011-08-09] Rok: Nice work! |

[2011-08-08] android: Free version was good before the recent update, we "freely" used it with just clicking ads, however aftter the update, you need data/network connection to use it because the ads. clicking ads is hard enough, but need data/network connection?.. people like me just using wifi to share files, no internet. oh man. please fix it. |
[2011-08-08] Lincoln: Easily the best transcoding app out there. Will get 5 stars when all mkv subtitles work and you can choose the audio track you want. |
[2011-08-08] Zdenko: Thanks for this app It works OK on Wildfire. Could use better frame rates but all in all its great program. Works like a charm. :) |
[2011-08-05] Rufus: Just simply brilliant Fuad, why don't you support the developer by clicking on the ads. Then you won't be disturbed by them. It's a really good app |
[2011-08-04] Tim: HTTP live streaming is a huge improvement! |
[2011-07-26] Jaikrishna: A real Media streamer I've tried all the streamers available and found this as the best Thanks for the autor |
[2011-07-19] EddyGeek: Ads too big yay, what a nice powerfull streaming app, but disappoint with the ads filling about quarter of video player as im using small screen size android. dev, hope you can do something with this. as people on some country cant buy apps because of restriction/money so they searching for free but ads supported. if the ads so big like this. cant use it. disappoint. do something please.. |
[2011-07-18] Jaymoon: Works Great! Awesome app! Streams 1080p MKV over Wi-Fi perfectly. Only using 25MB total RAM on my Win7 machine. Going to go purchase the ad-free version now... |

[2011-07-13] james: Desktop server is not working..... cant get the desktop server to work... does show great promise |
[2011-07-13] Stonetear: Great app/support Ran into an obscure issue with this on my Windows 2003 file server, and the author spent a ton of time (dozens of emails) going back and forth with me to help resolve the issue. Emit works wonderfully for me now, and I am very thankful for app authors who stand behind their apps and give individual attention when needed! |
