RedEye (v. 2.13.0) Разработано ThinkFlood, Inc |
PLEASE NOTE: While you can use the built in television program guide on its own, in order to control your home theater, you will need RedEye hardware (a separate purchase). RedEye hardware (whether the original Wi-Fi RedEye or the new RedEye Pro) sends out the infrared signals necessary to control your home theater and other equipment.
*** This application is *not* compatible with RedEye mini.
*** Configuration requires a PC (Windows, Mac, Linux) with WiFi card.
==================================================
RedEye is your personal remote control.
With the RedEye system you can use your smartphone, tablet, or PC to control your TV, stereo, cable box, Blu-Ray player, and many other devices that receive standard (infrared) signals. In other words, no more hunting through your sofa cushions for all those different remotes – all the control you need is right in your pocket.
RedEye is...
PERSONAL. Each person in your house can use her own smartphone, tablet, or PC as a controller, and more than one controller can interact with your gear simultaneously.
SIMPLE. One touch launches any activity – watch TV, listen to music, play a video. And custom screen layouts for each activity mean you never have to hunt for the right button.
SMART. Free software upgrades delivered through Android Marketplace, the ability to control different rooms from anywhere in the house – all cheaper than other universal remotes.

[2013-06-11] A Google User: Complicated Needs to have android directions... very hard to set up and find the device on wifi and get its ip let alone set it up |
|
[2013-05-30] A Google User: One last mayor update please Not sure if all work on the RedEye has already ceased or if there is still hope for one last update. If no development will be done anymore is it possible to open source the code so other developers can continue improving the app? The stability of the app needs improvement. It looses the connection with the RedEye often. Would also like the app to work in horizontal mode. This to be able to properly use the app on my tablet (looks horrid now). Last request is to update the app based on the Holo guidelines. This would make the app fit much better with the rest of Android. |

[2013-04-15] A Google User: Good, not great UPDATE: Thinkflood/Redeye has gone out of business, as of March 22, 2013! DO NOT BUY!!! My review below is moot. There goes $200. The RedEye concept is great. I have this working on my Motorola Xoom tablet and Galaxy S3, however it occasionally crashes on my Xoom. The problem is setup is a huge pain. You have to read through a ton of documentation on the Thinkflood web site and go back and forth between a WinPC and Android, or have an iPhone handy. Even as a techie, it took me and my buddy several hours to setup 4 components in my media room. The RedEye interface is "flexible", sure... to the point of being shapeless. And I still never got my Lutron remote dimmer lights working. RedEye was clearly designed for iOS; Android seems to be an afterthought (as others have said). Also there hasn't been any software updates or info in over 10 months... very concerning! Advice to Thinkflood: you need to hire a UX Designer and a senior Android developer, and keep your customers updated. Also take a look at what your competitors, namely Logitech, are doing as far as interface/UX goes. I like RedEye... please, just make it better!! |
|
[2013-03-16] A Google User: Doesn't work well on my Galaxy S3 but on all my other devices it is a great application and hardware combo I bought a used device so I had to reset the network settings with the pinhole button then reset the configuration via a factory reset in the software before it would function as expected. After that it was very easy to setup and get working with my 4 components and to get the macros (activities) configured correctly. I love the portablility of this application to use the same config on my ipad, android, and computer. Just wish the device had a micro SD slot for images to allow more customization in UI. |
|
[2013-03-08] A Google User: Not working for me HTC 3D / Acer A500 Loaded it on my phone on my phone first did not work, all I got was my television schedule. So I tried it on my Acer A500 and didn't work on that device either. I could not get any of my devices to give me room selections. Really look like a good concept, I hope you get the bugs out I will come back in a few months to see if it works. |
|
[2013-02-28] A Google User: Good solution...when it works. Too often (~50%) when I start the app it can't find the hardware. Need to find the hardware by IP address, which hasn't changed or have to unplug and restart the device to get it to work. And why should you have to enter the device's serial number when searching by IP address? Feels like solution was developed by techies with no sense of usability requirements. |
|
[2013-02-27] A Google User: Poor instruction Nothing seems to work and no instructions. Poor design. Siii |
|
[2013-02-26] A Google User: Crap Won't let me add rooms on my ATRIX |
|
[2013-02-16] A Google User: Be patient! Poor installation instructions for PC/Android users may frustrate many. Customer support is quick when emailing. But at he end of the day it works great as advertised. |

|
[2012-12-07] A Google User: Fan Great product, ir learning works great, searching codes abit tricky |
|
[2012-11-29] A Google User: Oh, well... Couldn't get the device 'home page' to load and connect to my LAN. Gave up when support asked if I had an iOS device I could use to update the software or return it to them to update. Sent it back to Amazon for refund. |
|
[2012-11-26] A Google User: Not sure what all the complaints are about. I had hardly any problems in the week since I bought the device. Occasional app crash. Good product! |
|
[2012-10-31] A Google User: Utter Rubbish Can't do anything with it coz it won't let me set up a room so install it is , what a waste of time. |

[2012-09-01] A Google User: No Android Mini I installed this just so I could rate the app lowly. Every company has the prerogative to do as they please with their products, and the right to do so. But releasing an app for the Android platform that, from what I've read, only sometimes works with the more expensive equipment, and refusing to create an app allowing the cheaper, more convenient Mini from being used with Android handsets is just asinine. ThinkFlood's own FAQs state they would start Android development a year ago, still nothing. |

[2012-08-28] A Google User: the redeye team doesn't like Android phones and Tablet. Android is the#1 now but still left behind. The Redeye iOS app is much better (always updated and much more functions ) . My advice: Don't buy the Redeye system (200$) until they hire a real passionate Android programmer and maybe I will change my comment. Galaxy Nexus, Android 4.0 and Redeye system Gen2. |

[2012-06-30] A Google User: When it works it works well but . . . It doesn't always work. Unit seems to often lose communication with android and apple devices. No rhyme or reason that I can tell. Also we have bricked two units during firmware updates. Have used iPad, iPhone 4s, razor, galaxy nexus, Xoom tablet, HP tablet and Lenovo tablet - same results. |

Programming the remote features can get quite advanced but once it is set up it works beautifully, even my GF can work it. Figure out the device before you post bad reviews! |

[2012-05-06] A Google User: total garbage The dock runs 200 bucks. Once you buy it, it won't update, it won't connect to equipment, it won't download the device files. It does have a really pretty blue light on it but it makes for one expensive nightlight. Oh and support is totally useless, their only response is "try to reset the device and try again." Will not even get into the fact that the manual does not even tell you how to program anything if by the slimmest chance you can even get to that point. |

[2012-04-03] A Google User: Latest update not working Firmware upgrade to the latest 2.12.0 is not working, the upgrade process cannot go beyond part1.upg So if the app on the phone had been upgraded, this effectively renders your setup useless . Edit: After re-doing the upgrade (no roll back option unfortunately :-( ) I hit a bug where my existing layouts were disappearing and also, the "Adjust Button" was crashing (force-close) the up if disabled. I contacted the developers. They acknowledged the layouts issue, but denied the "Adjust button" issue. However, within a week, they issued a further android app upgrade, which fixed the "Adjust button" issue. My apps (SGSII & HTC D HD) are somewhat stable no. Will roll out my new Activities with scripts and Task to see how the device (Redeye Wifi) scales. My topmost wishlist feature request is to have some form of Authentication for the mail/default browser page as I am doing remote access most of the time. Or at least, they should provide a different landing page which will then have the links to controls and setup. |

[2012-01-04] A Google User: Getting there but could be simpler I had an issue with rooms disappearing but when i set it to static ip it seems to have fixed it. Overall pretty handy though the reaction time could be improved. A setup wizard for the first time setup on the computer would have been nice as i couldn't find the small button to star creating keys and had to call then to get it working. Faster hardware would be nice to as it takes time to load the browser app. |

[2012-01-03] A Google User: Thanks, keep it coming! I bought the RedEye remote before the Android app was out (helpful phone support folks told me that it was in the works for 2011), and controlled it through my ipod and browser. I'm much happier, now that I can control it through my Galaxy Tab and Galaxy S. It works for me in Canada, though I don't subscribe to cable TV, so I don't know how well that works. I'm looking forward to seeing further excellent support and new features in this app. Many of those who rate it down seem to expect it to work differently than it is designed to work. You MUST have a RedEye Remote device to enjoy this app, as per the app description. |
