Layar is a mobile app for discovering information about the world around you. Using Augmented Reality (AR) technology, Layar displays digital information called “layers” into your smartphone’s field of vision.

Samsung has chosen Layar as one of the applications to be pre-installed on certain Samsung devices, along with many other applications such as "Maps" and "Calendar." As per Samsung's policy, none of these pre-installed applications can be removed by the user and are automatically updated by Samsung.

[2012-07-08] david: Too large A recent update decided that I needed the latest version which jumped from 1meg to 8meg. That's 7meg of wasted space since I do not use the app. Now my galaxy prevail is out of space and I cannot uninstall. They need to be mindful of phones with limited internal space. My choices are to live without being able to download new apparently or upgrade to a $300 phone. |
