Hanuman Chalisa is a devotional song based on Lord Hanuman as the model devotee. It is a poem written byTulsidas in the Awadhi language, and is his best known Hindu text apart from the Ramcharitmanasa.

Hanuman Chalisa gained enormous popularity among the modern-day Hindus. Many of them recite it as a prayer every day (or every week, generally on Tuesdays,Saturdays,and Sundays). It is believed that the person who chants the Hanuman Chalisa 100 times for 100 days will become free from the cycle of birth and death and enjoys the highest bliss, as stated in verse 38.
