Good but flawed Alarm notification needs to but MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH louder, almost silent on one x and nexus 7, the alarm doesn't repeat, so if you miss it, tough. My phone wakes me in a morning, this couldn't wake me if it tried. A time mode, where the clock takes the FULL screen, with maybe the next step/addition across the top, and the following one underneath, would make it much easier to see across the brew house, particularly if using a tablet (the screen needs to be optimised better for tablets too).

Feel ripped off The software works fine, but I bought this and not long after the full version comes out and takes some of the features out of this. If I knew the full version was coming I would have saved my money and waited!

Very useful I love being able to pull up my recipes on my phone at the brew supply store. Best of all if I decide to make any recipe changes I can save them right away rather then waiting until I get home.

Great app. Great service. I love the app. It makes it so easy to nail down recipe ideas no matter where I am. It is especially nice to know that great service comes along with it. I had an issue, so I sent an email and got a response in about ten minutes asking for more info. My issue was corrected the next day. I am very happy with BeerSmith. I own the upgraded lite app as well as the desktop version and I would definitely recommend both.

Needs desktop sync Decent, but can only sync with desktop using beersmith cloud and has an iOS style interface. I ended up using Dropbox and Titanium Media Sync to sync recipes with the desktop, and BrewAide to open them.

Brew day I would love to make changes to my recipe without having to go to my laptop. I'd love to ditch the laptop, but can't without a full version. Otherwise, I love the program. I've had the desktop version for about 6 years!!

Only useful with the Beersmith Cloud service Think you can copy a recipe from your desktop through any other method than the Beersmith Cloud? Think again: you can't even copy a file over USB. I don't want to use the Beersmith Cloud, so this is basically just a set of calculators. You can get those for free in other apps. Probably quite useful if you do have the Beersmith Cloud. But not for me.

Subpar This is basically a link to your recipes you create on your desktop. You can not create or edit recipes on the device. Do not buy unless you own the desktop version! How about a refund?

Essential Beersmith for the PC is a program I don't know how I brewed without before and now the "lite" version for Android had become that as well. I put parentheses around lite because this app is incredibly robust and chalk full of useful tools for calculations and conversions. A must have for any serious brewer.

Great way to integrate and go paperless! This app is like the companion to the full blown program, much the same way as your phone is typically a companion to your full blown computer. I've used this on two bees thus far and it sure makes it easy to get that info quickly. Also great when going to the brewshop for ingredients. I can't wait until the recipes become editable!

A must-have for Beersmith PC users This is a great subset of the Beersmith 2.0 PC version. It has all of the tools you would expect to be used on brew day away from your desktop PC, and it fits the needs of both beginners and all-grain users. It will allow you to store recipes locally, and if you really feel the need for cloud storage and access, you can use the subscription cloud service offered by Beersmith, but it's free for up to 10 recipes. My option is that the cloud storage isn't worth it, but your needs may be quite different from mine. I would recommend saving the annual subscription cost for cloud storage and use local storage, or maybe Dropbox if you want free cloud storage. You will have to copy your recipe file from Dropbox to where the Beersmith lite app stores he local files. Contrary to what some reviewers have claimed, this is NOT a scam to get you to pay for the Beersmith cloud storage service. As I mentioned, there is both an option for local storage as well as cloud storage. The cloud may be easier to use, however, to keep any changes synchronized and in the same place. Otherwise, learn how to copy and move files from the PC or Dropbox to the Beersmith recipes folder and save some money.

Scam/Ripoff This app will NOT let you view your own recipes from your computer unless you use the cloud service. If you want to use more than 10 recipes, you have to pay $15 for a beercloud subscription. What a joke. Rip your customers off by not letting them load the files locally. IT'S A TRAP!!!!!!!!!! He hooks you in with the $4 app, wont let you edit stuff, and then has the audacity to require you to use the cloud service to view your own recipes. The integration here is unacceptable. Word to the wise: Get BrewAide and use a Dropbox folder for your recipes. Works like a charm. I love BeerSmith for PC but this is a joke.

Disappointing performance & looks Looks and feels like an IPhone port. Everything performs slow, from switching screens to entering data. Scrolling is choppy and laggy beyond belief. Frustrating and disappointing to say the least. Running on Galaxy Nexus 4.1.2

Definitely needs a new UI... but great otherwise This does just feel like a shameless port from the iOS version. Where's a BeerSmith app that actually is designed to fit with Android? I bought it because I love BeerSmith on my computer, but I'm honestly disgusted by the iOS UI on Android. Additionally, there's no reason to have a legacy menu button on a new app. Just design it correctly, already. 4 stars, easily, if they fix that - maybe even 5.

Great but room for refinement. I installed the android app the first day it was available. I tinkered around with it a little and uploaded a few recipes to the cloud. I brewed a my first batch using the app the other day. I really liked not having to keep up with a sheet of paper through the brewing process. I would like to see the units match the custom unit settings in BeerSmith. For example, I weigh out my hops by gram, and likewise have BeerSmith customized to report my hop schedule in grams. However, my cloud recipes on the Android App still report Oz. Also, another improvement would be to somehow have an visual indicator in the app to easily find where in the brew process I am. Possibly some check boxes that could be "checked off" and everything up to that point would be shaded gray... Just a few ideas. Overall a great app for a first release. Keep developing it. 4 Stars from me.

Nice looking app, but not worth the price. It looks nice and is handy to look at your recipes, but I could do all of this on my phone or tablet through the browser. The timer and calculators are all available for free elsewhere. I was so excited to get the app I failed to read the full description and was disappointed that I couldn't edit my recipes. Hopefully when the full app comes out buyers of this app will get a discount.

It's great for what it's designed to be! Some reviews I have seen are knocking Brad for not allowing recipe development on the app. That's not what he designed it for, and to be honest, was quite up-front about from the day he announced it. So don't knock it for what it's not even trying to be. What it is: A shopping and brew-day extension to your beersmith software which allows you to see, buy the ingredients for, and brew your creations without requiring that you have a laptop near large volumes of hot liquid. The brew day timer is one of the most convenient features. Yes, there are free brew day timers out there. How many of them sync with the beer cloud to pull your actual recipe and automatically set the times based on your mash profile, hop additions, etc? I did a mash-out this weekend for the first time, and this recipe timer knew exactly what I needed to do and when without me having to figure it out. Convenient. The boil timer calculates your hop addition times, and notifies you when it's time. The hop amounts, varieties and such are right there. An additional benefit is the count-up after the boil timer. Let it keep going after flame out, and it'll start counting how long it takes to chill your wort. HANDY!

Thank you I have what I like to call my brewputer in my mini-brewery, on which i run the full version. I don't really need this app. I bought it for the simple fact that android didn't take backseat to ios as is usually the case. Thank you brad, hers my four bucks :-) On a useful note' its a good app that I hope it will be expanded upon now hat the push to release is one.

Great companion Seemless integration with desktop version via cloud storage is well worth the cost. Five stars with a few minor tweeks - I wish the brew timer had the ability to require a user prompt as I didn't hear one alarm. Also the sparge volumes are off from the desktop version...

Just not for the price Some nice features that can be found free with other apps but consolidated here. Overall, this just isnt worth the price tag when compared to brewpal and other options. Save the money and email a copy of your beersmith recipe to your smartphone. Timers, unit converters and bjcp guidelines are out there free.

Perfect brew day mini version of BeerSmith Love this app. I've been using it for about a month, was lucky to be a beta tester. I've brewed with it 3 times and it's exactly what I needed. I don't want my laptop out when I'm brewing, the phone app is all I need. Someone said the timer would be better if it told you when to add hops. It does. Automagically. Set your times in your recipe in the cloud and download it to your phone. You'll get notifications at every step you set. No manual timer settings needed if your recipe is set. I love that I can tweak the heck out of my recipes at my computer, then download it to my phone for reference at my homebrew store or when I'm brewing. Lot's of handy tools too. This isn't a great stand-alone app, you really need to already be using BeerSmith. If you're already a BeerSmith user, this is so worth $4. The perfect, mobile add on to a great desktop app. Brad did a great job and this is a brand new app. It's only going to get better. As someone who has some time invested in using & testing this app, I find it ridiculous it's getting low ratings from folks who admittedly haven't even used it yet.

Needs appropriate inputs I've only been able to play with this and so far it's pretty good. One easy change would be to use the appropriate input type for fields. If i can only type a number, set the field type to numeric. Fix this issue and you got yourself a 5star app. Side note: for those who don't use BeerSmith cloud, you are really missing out on some great functionality.

A Good Start I havent brewed with it yet, but it seems very functional, and will really beat using a PDF printout of a recipe on my phone and tablet. I cant wait for a full featured app where I can do recipe building on the fly. Being able to whip up a quick recipe while in the local HBS would be awesome!
