Rip off Starts off well. No mention of any costs. Then, soon enough, when it starts getting interesting, up comes the request of £8-odd per month to use the service. All I want to do is knock up a quick family tree, not become a historian over the next 12 months! Rubbish. Uninstalled.

Good and bad The app version gives the ability to easily enterror simple info but I find I'm constantly going to the actual web page to get and update detailed information. Both the app and the web site can be very confusing as well.

Well Designed, Horrible Pricing and Performance The interface for putting a tree together is great. But its all a ploy to sell their extremely expensive monthly service. On top of that I was locked out of my own family tree after a number of network errors. Maybe if they made this a paid app or lessened their service fees they may have some money for better servers and quality assurance.

Love this! However... Downgraded. Completely captivating & lovely interface. However, hard/impossible to select the radio buttons everywhere they occur and pop up selection of exiting person instead of new person also fails. Beta new method is not ready for such high interruptive placement on every page.

not what you expect.. it relly wasnt very good. you think you will have to give your name and it gives you your family tree but oh no, how wrong i was i give my details and then it decides that im the only one in the family tree and i have to build the tree myself and that would be pointless. due to this i deleted the app i wouldnt recomend.

Great! I've subscribed a while and enjoyed the iPad version... Am glad that Android is feeling the love now too. Noticed a grew small bugs, but they aren't significant. I'm insured why some people have sync issues, seems great on my Nexus 7. Could be internet speed related.

Good but! Download OK and connects when a gprs or wifi network is available. The down side is as mentioned in other reviews that only parents can be seen, would be nice to see siblings as well. Another issue is that the app seems to default to the US web site and has to be manually changed to the users relative (sorry for the pun) country. Pros the hints give more information than the web site does and a family tree can be built up before a paid for subscription is signed up to. Would be nice to be able to export a gedcom as well as import it, or maybe I have yet to find it.

Terrible, unstable & counter intuitive This app crashed 5 times in 10 minutes. It's a chore to learn. Doesn't allow to edit people and will add the same person multiple times. Won't show siblings in the main display and won't allow to delete an entire tree. It's basically useless and not worth your time. Skip this altogether.

Use at your own risk It automatically restarted my phone upon install and my wifi settings were edited. Now, my wifi auto shuts off. So, no wifi now and never got to use the app. Still no wifi after uninstall.Thanks a lot.

Needs update. Improve the sync ability. It would be great if you can connect members already in the tree to another members as a family member. If you put a member as a family member but is already in the tree there will be a duplicate and a note portion of a member. This is becoming terrible just lately. Mediocrity at it's best The app version doesn't seem very user friendly. When zooming in &out via pinch method its easy to select the wrong person or move the wrong way. It doesn't seem like the app is meant for searching and adding people. Lastly its most difficult using this thing when it doesn't update properly; I add people via computer, then open and refresh app and..... nothing!!! The computer version is incredible while the app, in all honesty, sucks. Therefore, im middle of the road with the company but overall very happy.

Buggy Requires network to save any information, time consuming and just a bad design really. Related issue then is there free trial to access historical documents requiring a credit card, automatic renewals of course. An unscrupulous practice and I would advise anyone to avoid.

Useless!! Installed on nexus 7, worked for about 10 minutes then app began adding extra copies of people, I was unable to update, delete or add people, app was hanging up constantly. Uninstalled and reinstalled still no go. Very disappointed. Don't waste your time!

Issues evident in 1st 5 mins of use..... Needs a lot of work, too easy to create multiple entries of same individual & no way to merge. Graphical tree display too limited, ie will not show siblings! Will only show parent/child relationships. Had a lot of hope for a portable solution that I could hand around the family to fill in the blanks but unfortunately not yet that user friendly....

Lovely but needs tweaking Far too easy to double submit when adding people from the app, which then leaves dopplegangers all over the place. Also auto-populating the surname when adding children. The tree UI is lovely and intuitive.

Yes it's free! You people who are disappointed and saying its not free. Yes the app is free. The subscription is for 14 days then you have to pay. I don't know what you guys don't get. When you get the free app for dish or netflix, that does not mean you'll get tv for free, doh. Good job Ancestry!
