This is a tool for people reading EKGs. Simply hold the edge of your phone to an ekg, then use the touchscreen to adjust caliper width. You can customize caliper size and estimate heart rate after a one-time calibration.
Real calipers cost $4-$10. This is a great substitute if you don't own a pair and need a quick fix!
