Presenting a photo album of the Supermarine Spitfire, dubbed "The Guardian Angel of the British Empire" by the people of the UK who admired its continuous protection of their homeland from the clutches of the Nazi army. With its elegant elliptical wings-drawing on the design of high-speed racing planes-or its aerodynamic airframe, the Supermarine Spitfire was also praised as "The World's Most Beautiful Fighter." During the course of WWII, 22,000 of these planes were manufactured. Among them, the Spitfire Mk.IX—designed to combat the formidable Luftwaffe Focke-Wulf Fw 190 with its enhanced engine efficiency-became the main mid-WWII weapon of the British army.
