iHear Network lets you listen in on the thoughts and opinions of individuals in communities around the world, in English, without having to search for content. No sign-up or account is required, just download the app, turn it on, and go. You can quit the app by pressing your phone's menu button and selecting "Quit".
Tune into iHear Network:

• To remotely monitor events or conferences in other cities

iHear Network is like StumbleUpon for location. It combines the basic features of a Twitter client like HootSuite, Seesmic, TweetDeck, or Twidroyd with a media-player interface similar to the one found in Pandora and gives the whole thing a local twist. When you tune into iHear Network, you'll see tweets linking to local photos from Instagram, picplz, TwitPic, and yfrog. Additionally, you'll be able to hear check-ins from foursquare, Gowalla, Loopt, SCVNGR, and Yelp as they happen. You might even hear information about local Meetups and get real-time road reports via waze. Best of all, all this content is instantly sharable on Facebook and Twitter.

[2011-06-29] Jen Book: Cool App, but lost interest fast This app seems to take peoples tweets from any geographic location and and plays them as audio. App works well, I just have no interest in random peoples tweets. I guess it would be nice to be able to find out if anything interesting is going on around town, but the person would have to be tweeting it at exactly the right time. |

[2011-05-03] Sneeks: Interesting if you have no life This app basically grabs tweets from a geographical location and applies text-to-speech functionality to 'read' tweets to you. I don't personally find this enjoyable but there are those who might. In terms of what it can do, i think the design was awesome, but somewhat purposeless. |
