Harry Potter - HPMOR (v. 24026) Разработано Ebooq Corp |
Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality (HPMOR), the most popular Harry Potter fan fiction on the Net!
Petunia married a professor, and Harry grew up reading science and science fiction. Then came the Hogwarts letter...
Disclaimer: J. K. Rowling owns Harry Potter, and no one owns the methods of rationality.
--------------------
This fic is widely considered to have really hit its stride starting at around Chapter 5. If you still don't like it after Chapter 10, give up.
This is not a strict single-point-of-departure fic - there exists a primary point of departure, at some point in the past, but also other alterations. The best term I've heard for this fic is "parallel universe".
The pacing of the story is that of serial fiction, i.e., that of a TV show running for a predetermined number of seasons, whose episodes are individually plotted but with an overall arc building to a final conclusion.
All science mentioned is real science. But please keep in mind that, beyond the realm of science, the views of the characters may not be those of the author. Not everything the protagonist does is a lesson in wisdom, and advice offered by darker characters may be untrustworthy or dangerously double-edged.
-----------------
HPMOR is an app that you can use to read HPMOR with your Android phone or tablet (v 2.2 and newer). It works online and offline, and automatically updates when the author adds or edits chapters. You can change fonts, font sizes and adjust the page to make it easy on your eyes.

[2013-08-28] A Google User: I'll download it when it works The icons and options, when selected, flash on the screen then immediately disappear. Trying to use the school bar at the bottom to pick a page is impossible. I can't even check how many chapters are available on this app! The page formatting via also awful, so I can't think of a reason to keep the app at this point. If I can't read it, its not useful. |
|
[2013-08-11] A Google User: Not updating with new content There are now at least 10 chapters written that haven't been added to the app... I thought he just stopped writing for a while. Nope, the app just doesn't automatically update. Works great when it does, though. |
|
[2013-07-24] A Google User: Great idea, not working Love the idea of an app, but I am unable to navigate through the text. When I attempt to go to the table of contents, or access anything else, the menu instantly closes. :( |
|
[2013-07-09] A Google User: Great story, bad app This app is unusable for me. Turning pages by sweeping lags, and touches are recorded twice, so buttons skip two pages at once. |
|
[2013-03-18] A Google User: Rating is the app not the story The story is absolutely brilliant! But the app is a bit slow and glitchy and chapters 86 & 87 are out now but the app has not been updated despite me turning on the automatic updates. |
|
[2013-01-22] A Google User: Needs work The story is great but the app is unusable. Nexus 4 running 4.2.1. None of the buttons work. When you press them they immediately close. |
|
[2013-01-05] A Google User: Can't view settings or navigation All the buttons on the bottom bar makes their content appear then disappear. |
|
[2012-12-18] A Google User: Not updated w/ Ch 86 Chapter 86 was just released, and Ch 85 was re-written. However, I have done extensive troubleshooting, and the current version of this app/contents doesn't seem to pull live from HP MoR servers... It must be manually updated by devs?! |

[2012-04-18] A Google User: Again app rating not story Story is 5 stars think Ender takes the place of Harry |

[2012-04-17] Bryce: HTC Evo Shift 4g 0th: rating is indicitave of the app, not the story. 1st: app is slow to respond, with glitchy and unintuitive UI. 2nd: some sort of instructions would be nice, even if just one screen that said: left & right do this, up and down do that. 3rd: app closed by itself several times. App also caused one of my long-running apps to force-quit (only ever happened right after installation) This has potential, but it's not quite there yet. Maybe a vertical scroll feature like Wattpad's would be nice. |

[2012-04-15] A Google User: Horrible This is the most inane, pretentious fix ever. It's terrible. You would be better of reading My Immortal. At least that fix is funny. |

[2012-04-11] A Google User: Cool idea, needs some improvement It's pretty nice to have this dedicated app to auto update as new chapters are published out revisions made. I would prefer some tweaks to the UI, though. There's no need for the menu buttons to be on screen at all times, and I probably wouldn't mind if the progress bar and chapter title would hide as well. Sometimes the page count gets pushed off screen by long chapter titles. Look to Aldiko for a great unobtrusive UI for general purpose ebooks. |
