WriteKanji: Kanji Dictionary (v. 2.0) Разработано SJC Linguistics |
Welcome to WriteKanji, the unique kanji dictionary and learner from SJC Linguistics! Only by writing will you ever learn to write, so why not give yourself the world's best tool for just that?
*WriteKanji now contains 2,198 kanji characters from JLPT levels 1-4!
*WriteKanji is now a fully searchable dictionary!
Between Explore Mode - where you can discover new characters - and Drill Mode - where you can put your memory to the test - you'll be well on your way to recognizing and reconstructing Japanese kanji (traditional Chinese characters) like you learned it in Japan!
Find characters in magazines, on TV, in the restaurant you don't know and lock them down once and for all! Thinking of getting a tattoo? Make sure you don't end up with "pork pie" written on your leg! Students and practicers of the language can use it to discover and master new and essential kanji characters from the JLPT. With an open navigation format, you'll learn something new every day!
*Features:
Explore Mode:
-Trace stencils for each kanji while seeing translations and readings
-Intuitive sliding controls for navigating Super Sets and hiding stencils from view
-Quickly add kanji to your Working Set for use in Drill Mode
-Use the list to track your performance in Drill Mode and skip to random kanji
Drill Mode:
-Intelligent drilling system helps you lock down on wanted kanji and test yourself on whatever you want!
-Progress reports back to your list in Explore Mode for each Super Set so you can see your progress for each kanji
Universal:
-A dictionary lies at the heart of the application, allowing you to search for kanji using kana, English, or the kanji itself!
-2,198 kanji in 22 Super Sets from JLPT levels 1-4
-Multiple, adjustable brushes for tailoring to different screen types, including a pressure-sensitive brush for practicing calligraphy
-Adjustable shake-to-clean feature
-Customizable color themes
Please note that in order to get the most out of this application, you will need to be able to read kana. If you can't, we might just have a solution for you *winkwink*, but in all seriousness if you can't write kana you have no business writing kanji.

[2013-04-30] A Google User: Nice but lacking crucial options Not bad, but needs stroke order charts and the option to use your own custom set. |
|
[2012-12-29] A Google User: Was nice, but... I really liked this app for practicing kanji, but since the stroke orders disappeared, it has been pretty useless to me. Wish it hadn't been updated until that data was available. |

[2012-12-02] A Google User: Ok but has issues. The new version is ok, but has some problems. Tracing doesn't show stroke order or where strokes begin (the docs say it should), so this isn't really good for learning, just review. Kun- and on-yomi are frequently misclassified, even for some of the simplest kanji. Some of the most common readings are missing, while less common ones are present. And while the idea of sets is nice, they are pretty random and there is no ability to create your own. It's an ok tool, but not really worth getting. |

[2011-12-29] A Google User: The best app of this category. Worth buying. Really liked this app. I find it really helpful for practicing my Kanji writing. The only thing I would like is to improve the working sheets functionality: - Allow multiple working sheets combining different sets, - Kanji look-up for creating working sheets. This way it would be easier to make personalized sheets to study for my tests. |
