American Civil War Daily (v. 1.5)

Flip through daily "cards" showing important events leading up to and during the deadliest war in American History.

Each "card" shows the date, a succinct description and a zoomable map for the event.

You can flip the "card" over to read the Wikipedia article describing the event.

You can sort your "deck" of events using two mechanisms:

- Sort by day and month for a "this day in history" view.
- Select a start date and then sort by day, month and year for a true chronological sequence of events from that date onwards.

The data for American Civil War Daily comes from the American Civil War Timeline Project at Cannonade.Net. This is a community contributed project to collect time and place data for the war. You can come to the site to browse the timeline or even log in and contribute new data.

The Timeline Project currently indexes over 400 hundred data points with new entries being added daily. If a significant event isn't in the database yet, it soon will be.

Admit it, you love Bollywood movies. Now you want to try your hand at writing this beautifully spoken language, Hindi, which is written in an ancient script, Devanagari.

Welcome, and let us show you step by step how to read and write vowels in Hindi.

With the help of the Hindi Vowels Flashcards app you will learn the shape, sound and vocabulary associated with Hindi vowels.
An animation will demonstrate how to write each vowel.

Each vowel is shown how it's written at the beginning of a word or syllable, and how it is written together with another letter. The letter k has been used as a placeholder.

Hindi Vowels Flashcards are designed to help students of all ages get familiar with the Hindi vowels, learn new vocabulary and understand vowel placement in any Hindi word formation.
Pronunciation samples and Roman transliteration offer helpful clues.

Hindi is not the only language written in Devanagari. Once you know all the Hindi alphabet (look for our Hindi alphabet app coming soon) you can read Nepali, Marathi and Sanskrit as well.

The pronunciation has been recorded native Hindi speaker Anshu Jain, an experienced teacher and founder of Indus Heritage Center in Los Angeles, which aims at building connections between the Indian and US cultures. Learning to spell has never been so much fun with the new Smart Speller English from EduKidsApps! This simple to use and effective interactive learning game was created by parents for parents to help their children learn to correctly pronounce and spell words and letters.
Thanks to its three levels of complexity (with hints, without hints and with extra letters), SmartSpeller will be exciting for kids to complete over and over again, moving to the next level as they grow up and learn.

First words. With its 80 original pictures across 7 categories (numbers and colours, fruit & veg, vehicles, farm animals, shapes, body parts), the game is played by tapping a moving object and then completing a word puzzle. The word selection features basic and most common words from each category, thus enriching the child’s vocabulary.

Storyline. To grasp and hold the child’s attention, the game has an interesting story that kids will love. Your children will be amazed by their quest to return seven colours of the rainbow to the sun by completing word puzzles correctly.

Alphabet practice. What makes it even more fun and educational is the app’s audio feature - every time you press any of the letters to complete a puzzle, that letter is pronounced. This way, apart from learning to spell, the child also learn to pronounce letters of the alphabet correctly.

Word pronunciation. Each time a kid taps on a picture of an object, it’s name is pronounced. This can work as a hint for medium and difficult complexity levels. After a puzzle is completed, the word is pronounced. This means that not only visual skills are involved, but rather an interaction of visual and auditory skills takes place.

Skill development. This game helps kids to develop a whole range of skills: motor skills and hand-eye coordination, visual and auditory skills, language and pronunciation skills, problem solving skills.
