The best selling smart phone astronomy app for your Android Device!
Now you can have a virtual star chart in your pocket! Look through the eyes of your Android device* to see a virtual window into the whole visible universe.
All you have to do is point your Android device* at the sky and Star Chart will tell you exactly what you are looking at.
Using state of the art GPS technology, an accurate 3D universe, and all of the latest high tech functionality, Star Chart calculates – in real time - the current location of every star and planet visible from Earth and shows you precisely where they are; even in broad daylight!
Want to know what that bright star is called? Point your device at it – you might just find out it’s a planet!
Want to know what the night sky looks like to people on the other side of the earth? Well just point your device down!
Want to know where your star sign is in the sky? Star Chart will tell you all this and more.
Star Charts features include:
- Just point and view. No need to scroll around the screen to find out what you are looking at*.
- Alternatively, look around the sky using finger gestures – perfect for armchair astronomers!
- Supports dynamic device orientation viewing. Allows you to view the night sky whilst holding your Android device at any angle.
- Accurately depicts all the visible stars of the northern and southern hemispheres - a total of over 5000 stars!
- Displays all the planets of the solar system, plus the sun and the moon.
- Displays all 88 constellations, with constellation imagery based on the beautiful artwork by 15th century astronomer Johannes Hevelius.
- Includes entire Messier catalogue of exotic deep sky objects.
- Tap on anything in the sky and get the facts on what you are looking at, including distance and brightness.
- Very powerful zoom function, lets you view the sky in extra detail, using intuitive finger gestures.
- Fully configurable. Star Chart displays only the sky objects that you are interested in.
- Allows you to view the sky underneath the horizon (unlike other more expensive applications). So now you can see where the sun is, even at night!
- Manually set your location to find out what the sky looks like from anywhere in the world.
- Full search feature
- Installable on an SD card
So point your Android device at the sky and see what's out there!

[2012-07-18] Kerry: Horizon always Always shows horizon. Cant go 10 degrees above it. Great view below horizon. Useless app. |

[2012-07-13] Sou: Nice Decent |
[2012-07-13] Sean: star chart it's an awesome app but I feel it could have more. I use this and sky map together to star gaze. this is pretty similar to the iphones "Star Walk" app which I'd gladly pay for on android. the options to get more info on a star/object is great. |
[2012-07-13] Bernhard: Simply the best Better than all the rest |
[2012-07-13] Melony: Luv it! I love this app. |
[2012-07-13] Steve: Star Chart |
[2012-07-13] Scott: Cool |
[2012-07-12] Bailey: Horrible Bought this app thinking it would be cool for my Motorola RAZR. Turns out when I open it, it looks like Michael j fox is holding my phone. The thing won't stop shaking all over the place. |
[2012-07-11] Generation: Awesomely detailed I love the extensive detail. Wonderful app to get lost in. |
[2012-07-11] Tad: Good Good so far. But control menus starting to annoy me |
[2012-07-11] Blades: Very good Really like knowing what I'm looking at now good app |
[2012-07-08] Var: Razr Maxx Worked great on my old Tbolt & maxx on gingerbread but is a mess with ICS on the Maxx. Constantly force closes, orientation isn't right no matter what degree you change it to then after a few mins the screen goes blurry. Hopefully you can get it working great again like before. |
[2012-07-08] joanne: Great app till it stopped working! I have been using this for almost 12 months now and loved it till 2 days ago, when it stopped working. It loads to a quarter of the bar then force closes. Thanks for that! At least you got yr money tho hey? Do u think u might fix it really soon or what? |
[2012-07-07] james: Tuidd It's loads slowly but everything else is great |
[2012-07-06] Marion: MaZa 5 weeks on and still won't open, the bar fills to halfway then stops, held my htc 15 mins at night sky but nothing except a hot phone and a battery drain. WHAT A WASTE OF MONEY ! ! |
[2012-07-02] Kim: Great app Would've gave it a 5 star rating if it didn't glitch from time to time. Beautiful to look at and my kids love to use it a well. Great app. |
[2012-06-29] Andrew: Star chart Does not work on my HTC Wildfire S. Tried every thing. No help from escapist games or offer of refund after eight emails and a week. Very disappointed. |
[2012-06-28] sept: Please fix set time function GMT Set time button is too small and when missed, it bring up menu which is annoying Also set time reverts to GMT. Ex: my time is 11am. When press set time, it uses GMT time which is 6am. This makes it difficult to calculate the time. Other than that, great app |
[2012-06-24] Leon: Nexus Sexy as flying a space ship at warp through a worm hole to Gliese 667 Cc. |
[2012-06-24] Andrew: Best of its kind Definitely the flashiest app of its kind, while still being extremely usable. My only complaint is that it's TERRIBLE on battery life. |
[2012-06-21] Cpt. Danger: Awesome And even better on my new EVO LTE. |
[2012-06-21] pakkua80: working does work but not entirely on Android 4.0. the accelerometer is not working that use to work on 2.3 |
[2012-06-18] Thomas: Pretty good Its pretty Dang good. Only thing is its a bit jumpy if you try to hold it steady it jumps around, and sometimes has to be recalibrated. Other then that very pretty and relatives accurate though its not as spot on as it could be, fix the jumpiness and I'd give it 5 stars |
[2012-06-17] D: Simply awesome |
[2012-06-17] bobwis: Screen orientation issue A500 Andriod 4.03 Nice App - However a screen orientation problems with my Acer tab a500 in tracking mode. Horizon seems to always 90 degrees out (ie top to bottom instead of left to right) makes it difficult to use in this mode :-(. |
[2012-06-17] Susan: Let down Worked for a couple of times now wont scan the sky on my asus transformer, not happy, £3 wasted it would seem. There should be an option to reinstall or get refund |
[2012-06-16] Todd: Cool app It's fairly accurate, I like when you have the phone pointed down to the ground, it shows you what stars are on the other side of the earth, augmented reality is great, using the full potential of your dual/quad core device, especially if you have dual/quad 3d nVidia tegra video processing, very cool indeed |
[2012-06-15] Lawrence: Good job! Truly excellent star-chart app, yay! |
[2012-06-15] Mikie: too sensitive.. Unlike iOS Starwalk.. which I have found way more fluid than StarChart.. it still is a great program.. would be great to make it more fluid as you move - aside from that its been a great app ;) worth the buy |
[2012-06-15] Sabin: Good app I would sudgest more stars to be present so the app can be used easier for orientation on the night sky, especially when using it as guidance before telescop observations. |
[2012-06-14] scadarick: Great little star chart This is one of the best around, it's almost as good as good redshift and skyorb |
[2012-06-14] dexter: Database is lacking Missing many common messier objects like the Jewel Box cluster, for example. Also, the search in general is very lacking for eg you can't search for any clusters or nebulae.. For anyone really interested in astronomy, I would recommend SkySafari instead. |
[2012-06-13] Brendan: AMAZING!!!! This shows everything in great detail especially the planets if star walk ever comes to android get this instead, it is infinitely better than star walk |
[2012-06-11] Jjr: UPDATE is still UNINSTALLING. So, I can't update any further!! It works fine on my Motorola ATRIX finally. But it has a diff OS than this one. |
[2012-06-11] David Artman: Beautiful! Worth buying even though Google Sky Map is free. Gorgeous! |
[2012-06-10] Ryan: Galaxy nexus Amazing thanks so much ;) |
[2012-06-10] Tyrone: Dev Cares! Even though I don't really use this app (think I got it during the $.10 sale), I'm rating 5 stars because out of all the apps that get "updated" in Google Play each day; this is the only Dev who I've seen, that is always on top of any problems reported with their app... Wish some of the Major App Devs would push out a quarter (25%) of what this Dev does... |
[2012-06-10] Alex: Ok app Cool app, but has to many bugs, keeps crashing and when it does work it keeps turning my screen and then has to reload when I turn the screen back. Fix these and it would be great. |
[2012-06-10] Louis: Works excelent now! Thx for fixing most of the issues :) For perfect score fix location on gps so it knows your exact location from where u r at. It is asking you to input ur cordinates. U SHOULD NOT HAVE TO lol. Thx for fast update :) |
[2012-06-09] Will: Junk Just purchased and Can't even use it just crashes. And I can't get refund. |
[2012-06-09] Ali: Awesome Excellent astronomy app, so cool! The only problem I have is that it doesn't automatically go back to AR mode after I zoom in on something. Even so, it's a five-star app! |
[2012-06-09] S: Force close every time. Worked for a day. Then will not load. Unusuable. Waste if time and money. |
[2012-06-09] shkschneider: Tracking problem Las update made tracking better on n1 but still wrong: point somewhere, turn your phone 2 times and the entire sky moved... |
[2012-06-09] Dan of Toasters: Excellent with a few minor glitches. Used it to track the Venus Transit and solar eclipse and it was remarkably accurate in terms of the relative visual size of the various objects. I noticed that Saturn's rings are inside out... |
[2012-06-08] Anonymous: Constantly shaking The screen constantly shakes even when you set it on a table the screen shakes... |
[2012-06-08] Lee: Outstanding |
[2012-06-08] Elliot: Awesome Enough said |
[2012-06-08] Joe: Galaxy s2x Works good after update |
[2012-06-08] shelleyfrank: Fantastic! A very informative and entertaining planetarium app and the only one I know of yet to allow you to explore the solar system by flying to the planets in real time. Moving textures on Jupiter's surface and sun flares are awesome. Caring dev. Thanks for recent fixes. |
[2012-06-08] John: Works great! This is a wonderful app with a great display. It's a beautiful thing. |
[2012-06-08] Scott: Version 2.37 running great No more issues with app restarting when changing screen orientation, and menu buttons work now. All in all a great, visually exciting app. I took a screen cap of the Venus transit and convinced someone it was an actual photograph. |
[2012-06-08] Garcia: Great App! Love it! |
[2012-06-08] Diddy: Wont open **** Wont open on my HTC Wildfire s used to work well can you look into this please . |

[2012-06-08] Matt: Amazing application with stunning visuals and precise accuracy. |
[2012-06-08] David: Awesome Love this app! |
[2012-06-08] aaf709: Just about fixed on Bionic The rotation problem is fixed, but with a small bug.. For example, I start the app in portrait and change to landscape. The menu stays in portrait unless I press the "Back" button. I press "Stay" and the menu shifts to landscape. I can live with it, but still awkward. . |
[2012-06-07] Lea: Waste of money Just a black screen...not happy |
[2012-06-07] Brian: Apps says 'access denied' half the time, crashes the other half. Not recommended. |
[2012-06-07] Kelly: Dont work Just bought and it wont do anything just a blank screen on my galaxy s2 |
[2012-06-07] Michael: Used to work great... Switching between AR mode causes app to restart. Once gps cordinance are manually entered, the app restarts then crashes. Orientation no longer sync with auto rotation of device. |
[2012-06-07] Ken: Bunk I just payed for this and it is saying I have not subscribed to it and need to purchase it. What a joke? |
[2012-06-07] phone: Used to be great Now crap. Keeps restarting, Shuts down unexpectedly and menu keys go weird in landscape. |
[2012-06-07] Steve: Pretty... ..a nice compliment to Google Sky Map - WHEN you've got the time! |
[2012-06-07] Adrian: Great Amazing...me and my kid love it. |
[2012-06-07] lewgar: Awesome Works very nicely. |
[2012-06-07] Bails: Still broken Won't open. Sometimes looks like it might and then force closes. Desire s |
[2012-06-07] Andy: Nice graphic and very smooth Good job |
[2012-06-07] Karim: Won't open It was a nice app |
[2012-06-07] AnChan: Samsung captivaye Fix it so I don't have to swipe my screen to move across the sky. It use to be just fine til now |
[2012-06-07] Chas: Awesome again This latest release has fixed the black screen issue on SGS2. Back to bring a fantastic app, thanks! |

[2012-06-07] Henry: Great app Works great. |
[2012-06-07] anthia: Fantastic on my samsung galaxy s2!! I LOVE this app!! I never knew where the planets were positioned before us but now with this app I can see them! I love it!! I pointed my phone towards the sun and it showed the sun directly in the same position. Pretty accurate I must say :) |
[2012-06-06] Vivian: Bad deal...never worked App loaded and crashed every tim |
[2012-06-06] Heather: Best transit app Captured the transit of Venus beautifully. This its my favorite of ask the astronomy apps. |
[2012-06-06] Raelynna: Looked Cool It crashes, did not work. |
[2012-06-06] Anthony: Crashes evo 3d Nice app, but it crashes with large movements on the HTC EVO 3D |
[2012-06-06] Geoff: Was good before last update, now doesn't work at all! Have rebooted, reinstalled and still just freezes on a black screen after launch. Useless. Disappointing too, considering I paid for this app. |
[2012-06-06] joshua: Love it! I seen venus on the sun !!! |
[2012-06-06] Daniel: Graphics are beautiful, but a little slow My original review described the issues I was having with my Nexus One (wouldn't track the sky). I've posted an update, since I don't use that phone anymore. The graphics are pretty, and I like the interface, but the app is slow to load. Not only that, but if you task switch, it has to load all over again, even if for a second. It would be great if had more features, like setting manual location and date/time and supporting screen rotation. |
[2012-06-06] Jan: NO! Tooo irritating Keeps hanging, keeps loading, just too many little problems. No, waste of money. You can not get your money back either. Sorry! |
[2012-06-06] John: Crashes continuously Nearly everytime I try to open this app it crashes and on the very rare occasion that it does open it is jerky and unresponsive, really really disappointing app...... and as for trying to get a refund.... forget about it. Save your money and avoid this app like an ex girlfriend. |
[2012-06-06] Haris: Motodefy Force close frequently, sometimes my phone restarts... |
[2012-06-06] Andy: nice app, but buggy nice app, just wish it didn't crash so much or spontaneously reboot the phone. HTC Desire (CM7.1) |
[2012-06-06] phlewyd: Excellent. Well executed program, easy to use and understand. Plenty of features to keep me busy tinkering for hours. Can get a little confusing when too many features enabled, and can be a little difficult to navigate/regain proper orientation, after a lot of exploring, but this is probably more user error/careless misuse, on my part. Nonetheless, great fun, beautiful interface, more than enough information to keep stargazers gazing, and providing satisfactory answers to those wondering, "the hell is THAT thing?" |
[2012-06-06] Desmond: Cant open Are all the stars gone ? All i get is a black screen. It used to work before. |
[2012-06-06] Juan: Fix it!! Cool concept but freezes and blacks out afte a few seconds of use |
[2012-06-06] Mathew: EPIC can't wait to check out the night sky while I'm blooown! |
[2012-06-06] roxanne: Freaking sweetness!!! I LOVE THIS THING!!! Have had it several months now and its the only one, of the 296 apps I have, that I go to everyday. Its way better than google sky map but I keep both around cause both have their own lil special things to them the other doesn't have. Well worth the money!! |
[2012-06-06] Adam: Refund? The ad on the play home page says venus transit but the ap says nothing about it. |
[2012-06-06] Mary: Having problems w it |
[2012-06-05] Boy: Love it! Great app. But has been giving me problems lately with force closing. |
[2011-03-19] Brad : Compass is useless, has no idea where I'm pointing my phone at. So pretty poor. Looks awesome, but broken. |
[2011-03-17] shane: 1.85 fixed the touch issues w my G2! Thank you!!! So glad it's working again, going to wait a bit to see how 1.86 is treating everyone before I update |
