The Sami Shamoon College of Engineering started operating in 1995 in the approval of the Higher Education Council, the largest college of engineering in Israel.
The college runs two campuses – in Beer Sheva and in Ashdod, and granting B.Sc. degrees in the following fields:
Electrical and Electronics Engineering – Tracks for majoring in: communication, electricity and electronics
Chemical Engineering – Tracks for majoring in biotechnology, process engineering, water technology
Mechanical Engineering – Tracks for majoring in: mechtronics, product design
Software Engineering
Industrial Engineering and Management – Tracks for majoring in: information systems, operation systems, management systems
Civil Engineering – Tracks for majoring in: building engineering, construction management engineering
The college focuses on training engineers, with a special emphasis on current trends in industry and Israel's overall economy plans for the future envisage a two campus institute with 6'000 students by 2015, which will make sce the leader in academic and industrial expansion in Israel's south.
