Project Noah (v. 2.1.3) Разработано Networked Organisms |
Project Noah is an award-winning mobile application that helps nature lovers discover local wildlife and aspiring citizen scientists contribute to current research projects. Noah stands for networked organisms and habitats. Think of Project Noah as a tool people can use to document and learn about their natural surroundings and as a technology platform research groups can use to harness the power of citizen scientists everywhere. Read on to find out how it all works.
The Project Noah application has 3 modes:
Spottings: Grab a photograph of a plant or animal that you find interesting or want to learn more about, select the appropriate category, confirm your location, add some descriptive tags, and submit it. If you need help identifying species, no prob, just select the check box and the community will suggest species IDs
Location-based Field Guide: See what kinds of plants and animals have been spotted near you and learn more about them. Search through a map view, list view, or grid view of most recent spottings all based on your location. You can filter wildlife by categories so you can explore what you’re most interested in.
Field Missions: We work with labs, environmental groups, and various organizations to help them gather important data for their research projects. Missions can range from photographing squirrels or mushrooms to tracking migrating birds or invasive species. Missions allow users to contribute to ongoing research projects, but they can also be for fun and exploration.
With our website, http://www.projectnoah.org, we continue to build an active community where users can view submissions, help identify species, choose their favorite photos, follow their favorite contributors and discuss their encounters. Users can also make submissions directly from the web.
Our ultimate goal is to build the platform for documenting all the world's organisms and through doing this we hope to develop an effective way to measure Mother Nature's pulse. By encouraging the mobile masses to document their encounters with nature, we hope to build a powerful force for data collection and an important educational tool for wildlife awareness and preservation. We hope you'll support us by joining Project Noah today.

[2012-10-05] Kasisnu: Awesome for the urban wild .. Brilliant app and an awesome approach to documenting wildlife .. |
[2012-09-30] Tiffany: Needs instructions or fixing I love this idea. I've taken lots of pix but can't load because it won't identify location or let me add it by zip instead, so it won't save spotting. I can move the map to where I was but not select that spot. If I try"use my location" it still doesn't work. Make useless right now. Is this a problem on all Android or Samsung galaxy II? I don't see any other buttons, so I assume prob is app. |
[2012-09-27] Jim: Love Project Noah, but app has isues.. I can't upload a picture from the app, it always gives an error and when I try and view a picture from the app, it links to the wrong one. I'm forced to use the web for everything. |
[2012-09-21] Caitlyn: Location I cant chose my location from yhe mso. How do i do that? |
[2012-09-11] Bryan: Totally 5star I myself is a nature lover and this app has totally make me learn mxore |
[2012-09-03] the 9/5/2012 : FUN! |
[2012-09-01] Adam Malik: Needs improvement to both UI and features I like this app, but the UI is pretty uninspired. Also how about a search feature so we could ID species more easily? Think Google image search. To add to that, an animal database and creature-of-the-day, to discover interesting animals throughout the world. |
[2012-08-08] Prince Keith: Superb application Great application superb i love mother nature |
[2012-08-05] Joli: Great idea As an environmental educator I LOVE this app. Send your kids out with their camera phones and get them into nature! However I have had problems when viewing a spotting when I click the image to see it larger I get a different and completely random image from another spotting. This makes it difficult to identify others' unknown spottings or even to see what they were looking at. |
[2012-08-05] ashley: Awesome :) |
[2012-07-28] Cher: :( I can not create a new spotting because selecting location doesn't work even with GPS on. |
[2012-07-17] kathy: Love the concept but needs to be updated. Keeps crashing on me. Wont let me submit new spottings. Crashes every time I try to put in my location. Fix. |
[2012-07-15] Mae: Ugh I love prohect noah! I was excited for the app, but it wont let ne load new spottings! :-( via my phone...:,-( |
[2012-07-15] Eric: Good concept, needs updated. Love this app, but it needs fixed. Clicking the thmbnails of local spotting takes me to a completely different picture. App eventually went black and stopped responding. Mytouch 4G Slide |
[2012-07-11] Rebecca: Buggy Love Noah but unable to load images from phone, differnet pic appears with zoom, cannot tell when comment posts, and cannot remove (over posted due to that) comments - Virgin Mobile Venture |
[2012-07-07] Matt: Good Concept, Needs Work I enjoy using this app, with one major exception: I am a wildlife professional who already knows what species I'm seeing, but I am still required to upload a photo. I primarily use the app on a smartphone and while it does have a camera on it, the camera is very poorly suited to snapping recognizable pictures of most wildlife. I would like to use this app as a way of recording the species I encounter, but the photograph requirement makes this cumbersome to the point that I usually don't bother using the app |
[2012-07-07] Mickey: Slow Load Fix it |
[2012-07-04] Joey: pictures Can't load pictures from gallery with droid razr |

[2012-05-29] Justin: Great website but terrible app So many bugs and glitches... 2.3.3 DROID x |
[2012-05-22] William: Not bad The only problem i have at the moment is i can't see theta whole title on missions. But great concept. |
[2012-05-08] Toll: Can't change location I love this app and the whole idea but I don't know how to change the location when siting isn't my present location. |
[2012-05-08] Jake: Great Project, app is lacking though On my Samsung Galaxy I have seen multiple crashes. The app definitely needs activity indicators. You click on something and there is no indication that something is going on. Also, the map's attempts to center back to your current locaiton becomes very annoying when viewing other areas. With a few simple improvements, this could be a great app. Love the project! |
[2012-05-03] Sherrell: Can't even SIGN IN!! Please update! I can't log in or do anything on this app now!! It seems I'm not the only one either. FIX YOUR ISH!!! |

[2012-04-20] Mogen_david: Not working This app would be great of it worked. Samsung stratosphere. |

[2012-04-16] MamaKitty: Beautiful app. Just wish it worked :( Says it is compatible with my AT&T Samsung SAMSUNG-SGH-I777. Nope. Can't sign in. Nothing on the front page works.Icons, button all respond to touch but nothing happens. Guess I'll just continue to enjoy and participate in Project Noah on the web. Too bad. Such potential lost. Giving it two stars for good luck. |
[2012-04-16] ashley: Can't access anything Really wish I could access this apps homepage because this seems like a wonderful idea |
[2012-04-15] Joelsephus: Great idea. Can't log in The my Noah page is completely unresponsive. Please fix. I can't wait to use it. |
[2012-04-15] Blake: Unresponsive Looks like a cool idea but it doesn't respond to any touches on my EVO 3D... |
[2012-04-11] Joe: Needs better Android response I recently got an Android phone and was disappointed to find I can't access anything. Too many bugs.I'll come back if work is done to test this app before releasing any more updates. |
[2012-04-11] Ravyn: Great... on other, non-Android devices. |
[2012-04-09] cm: Potential someday, buggy today Zooming in on a picture to id it brings up an entirely different picture. Needs fixing. Motorola Razr. |
[2012-04-04] Jen: Eh It worked great on my old phone. But it doesn't even allow me to login on my Asus Transformer tablet. |
[2012-04-01] Aaron Lockhart: Too buggy As has been stated before: great idea, but too buggy at the moment. I can't even get the "My Noah" page to respond to any taps. I'll be checking back on this periodically as new versions are released to see if it gets up to par. I've been looking for an application similar to this for a long time. |
[2012-02-25] Chris: Great idea, too many bugs. Pretty buggy on my Sony Ericsson x10. Zooming in on a picture brings me to an entirely different page and searching by category doesn't work. I really hope this app will be improved, but I am glad I didn't pay for it. Many of you looking at this app like bugs... but for those of you who don't, avoid this app. |
[2012-01-24] Francis: Motorola Defy I've downloaded this wonderful app, but on the home page nothing happens when I click on My Spottings, My Missions, My Patches, or Setting? 0n Missions under local I don't have an option to choose my location, but I do see 6 missions (Flwrs of Nrth Am.,Fall into Phen., Mitten Crab wtch., fungi of the Am south, Colo corridors prjct. colo sprng crttrs. - none of the othe availabilities or a search bar. there a re a few other bugs too, but at the moment if you could work on those for me, thanx.- Francis Quintana |
[2012-01-15] santosh: Excellent A vibrant community of wildlife lovers. |
[2012-01-11] dvdmon: Great but unresponsive developer This works fine on my Evo 3D, but is marked as imcompatible on my Nabi Tablet (and when I tried downloading it via another app store, it wouldn't install). I tried to contact the company/developer, but they are completely unresponsive - I've tried feedback on their website, a post to their Facebook Wall (which they just deleted), and email to the address listed here and the one on their site. Not one answer. I love the idea of this and we will continue to use it, but with a developer who refuses to respond to customers, it just doesn't give me a warm feeling that this site has stability. I hope that changes! (And I hope they make the app compatible with more devices!) |
[2012-01-10] David: 4.5/5 Great app! Nice design and an awesome active community. Would like to have the possibility to place 'private' spottings, only visible to myself. |
[2011-12-28] Ian: Creepy requirement for passwords. Won't do anything unless you link it to your google, twitter or Facebook accounts, and presents a login page for you to type in your user name and password. No thanks. |
[2011-12-23] 'matt!: Can't wait to learn more and add my own projects! Title says it all, I suppose. |
[2011-12-05] Emily: Very interesting. Learning a lot about wildlife in my area! Love this app, such a neat concept and website. |
[2011-12-04] Justin: Great concept, buggy execution I fully support the idea behind this app but there are a few technical things that need worked out. Can't upload photos from my gallery and other bugs |
[2011-11-01] the 11/15/2011

[2011-10-23] Elena: Load I can't load photos from my phone now. |
[2011-10-13] Jim K.: I love the concept of this app. Looking forward to seeing the community grow and the app mature and weed out a few bugs (no pun intended). |
[2011-10-04] Becky: Love the app and the entire concept except for 1 thing. If I actually mark whre I've found all these bugs, the world will have my address. So I'm not putting them in the exact location. |
[2011-09-28] Mike: I like bugs |
[2011-08-31] geng: FC on start used to be okay but after latest update I get FC on start. Nexus S 2.3.4 |
[2011-08-31] Hana, Hannie, Flower Nose (language joke): I love the app, but it's been "downloading" an update for 3 days now. :( nothing else has been a problem for my HTC Evo Shift. |

[2011-08-18] Beat: Sweet and friendly! |
[2011-07-22] BareFeat: Much like noahs ark, either your onboard and head over heels for this projjy or your not. The app really isnt needed i upload all my spots thru site. |
[2011-07-17] minsk: Great idea, but currently very buggy I'm surprised they've released it in its current form. It's full of obvious bugs. Leaves the GPS going after exiting program. Pulls up the wrong photo when you look at other peoples geotagged pictures. Crashes out randomly. Failed to upload my photo. A real pity. I hope they sort it out soon. HTC Desire Z. |
[2011-07-09] Nickname unavailable: chimera. . . |

[2011-06-22] Rus: I dont wanna use this since u could potentially grab my facebook login and password. dont wanna take the time to create a dummy..your not facebook |
[2011-06-18] Kathleen: If it didn't leave the gps running (& draining my battery) I'd give it four stars. I'll keep it installed for a little longer in hope of a fix. |
[2011-06-08] mingc: GPS Remains Running Nice concept, but not ready for prime time. As others have observed, it drains the battery by keeping the GPS running in the background even after you've backed out of the app. Uninstalled. myTouch 4G stock. |
[2011-06-07] Arrioch: I'm really impressed by Project Noah, great community. As for the app, it looks beautiful, but it has few bugs, like inability to save after editing. |
[2011-06-07] Miloš: I'm really impressed by Project Noah, great community. As for the app, it looks beautiful, but it has few bugs, like inability to save after editing. |
[2011-06-03] g33k: Why does one have to sign in with any of those account logins just to look at the settings or do anything with the app... Seems fishy |
[2011-05-27] Danny: Very pretty app design, but buggy code. Thumbnail images zoom to random photos. App doesn't close - keeps gps on until force close. Galaxy S 4G |
[2011-05-24] Ric: Project Noah = GREAT. This app = SUCKS. I've entered the spp. name FIVE TIMES and saved. I just as well tell it to FETCH because it sure doesn't save. |
[2011-05-12] Kathy A.: Needs to go to SD card Looks like a nifty little app, but it will be off my phone in a minute because you can't move it to the SD card. |
[2011-05-08] Skawater: Locks up in picture gallery when posting sightings. (Samsung moment droid 2.1) |
[2011-05-01] QuailLady: I love the concept of this app. I have enjoyed collecting and sharing. But on my Thunderbolt the app crashes...a lot. I have not uninstalled yet. |
[2011-04-19] JM ツ: Giveaway your password mandatory. |

[2011-04-12] Chris: I wish it had more field guide and identification tools built in. |
[2011-04-04] Pam: Ran in background and killed my battery. Great idea though. Samsung fascinate |
[2011-04-01] AstroRoid: looks pretty cool, sounds awesome.. but needs apps2sd, uninstalled. N1 2.3.3 |

[2011-02-26] Fernando: Great app, I would like to be able to zoom with the pictures though. |
[2011-02-24] Bill: Please allow this to be saved to sd card. |
