Kana Tutorial (v. 1.1) Разработано KaraNagai |
Simple application for those who study Japanese. It helps to learn katakana and hiragana alphabets.
The app shows a symbol (or romaji transcription) and asks to choose its' romaji transcription (or kana symbol respectively) from six options. The incorrect guess results in graying out the selected option, sometimes - dropping the score and allowing the user to choose again. The correct guess increases the score and allows to progress to the next kana/romaji symbol.
You can switch between two modes - Hiragana (default) and Katakana at any time, and the app keeps score for both.
The cost of error is zero in the beginning and icnreases with the score. The goal is to obtain 100% on both alphabets.
Repeating the exercise to achieve 100% on both hiragana and katakana few times during a month is a very effective way of learning kana.

[2012-10-28] Bonnie: Recommend highly for beginners It is great for beginners but a good review for others. Wish it had been easier to install. I didn't have any problems installing on my first droid but having problems on my I phone??? |

[2012-09-23] Pep: Great practice A good app, even better now. My fav. Hira/Kana tutor. |
[2012-08-18] Thomas: Old use of katakana I was surprised to see the katakana choices for "i" and "e" - I asked a native speaker, and she told that those kana hadn't been used for 50 years. |
[2012-07-11] Huda: Sirius For the most part, it's helpful. Something I don't like is you have to complete hara before getting to kana |
[2012-06-27] Miquel: Great app!! Lots of stuff |
[2012-06-17] Gerson: OK Was at 99% hiragana when i accidentally changed to landcape, which in turn caused the quiz to reset. Needs way to change to katakana without having to go through hiragana first. |
[2012-02-22] Haohmaru: ttt great that it has 6 choices but please fix the WO kana, i have only seen the "part of the sentence" one, need the regular too |

[2011-04-10] Vincent: Excellent tool to shake off the rust in your kana knowledge. |
[2011-03-21] chris: Cool little app just wish it had the stroke order and the full kanji, but then again you would have to be japanese to properly understand it |
[2011-03-06] IM: Good, quick, simple. But resets when my epic changes from portrait to landscape. Seems to pick a random kana each time, leading to many repetitions. |
[2011-02-10] Darrell: More challenging then it looks. Goes over what you thought you knew to fond out it was a good guess last time. I'm working hard to get that 100% |
[2011-02-02] David: Simple. Works well. Helps learning. Gentle way to learn. |
[2011-01-31] jordan: I don't understand what to do |
