Where is MESSENGER? (v. 1.4)

This application computes the number of revolutions (orbits) that MESSENGER has executed around Mercury since 2011 March 18 at 06:50 Universal Time (UT).  It also indicates the time remaining until the start of the next orbit.  Background images obtained by cameras on-board the spacecraft show the surface of Mercury.  Three buttons allow the user to obtain additional information about MESSENGER, about the background images, and about the application.

This application is maintained by Jean-Luc Margot, UCLA professor and MESSENGER team member.  Information and links provided by this application do not convey implicit or explicit endorsement of any goods or services by the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, Carnegie Institution of Washington, or NASA.

The MESSENGER mission is a NASA Discovery mission designed to conduct the first orbital study of the innermost planet, Mercury.  Sean C. Solomon of the Carnegie Institution of Washington leads the mission as the Principal Investigator. The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, Laurel, Md., manages the mission for NASA’s Science Mission Directorate.
