ZT-180 Adhoc Switcher (v. 1.4c) Разработано HAL9000 |
IMPORTANT NOTE:
IN SOME RARE CASES THE APPLICATION CAN MAKE THE WI-FI ON SOME DEVICES STOP WORKING, NOT BEING ABLE TO CONNECT EVEN TO INFRASTRUCTURE NETWORKS. DON'T WORRY, IT'S FIXABLE. JUST FOLLOW THE STEPS AT THIS POST:
http://www.slatedroid.com/topic/16005-zt-180-adhoc-switcher/page__st__60__p__204274#entry204274
WARNING:
This application is intended to be used with devices having an RT2870, RT3070 or Texas Instrument Wi-Fi module, although it has only been tested with the Zenithink ZT-180 tablet with Android 2.1 and 2.2 OS versions.
It should work with other devices using one of these Wi-Fi modules or with other OS versions, or even might work with devices using other Wi-Fi modules on "just to try..." mode, as for example the iMX515 tablet with Atheros module (thanks to Miguel Minglas for his help on testing), but that's not sure and it's something you try at your own risk. According to received comments, in addition to ZT-180 the application worked on the following devices: iMX515, Samsung Galaxy Tab P1010 and FlyTouch 2.
IF YOUR DEVICE IS NOT A ZT-180 OR ONE OF THE DEVICES REPORTED AS COMPATIBLE AND THE APPLICATION DOESN'T WORK, THEN DON'T GIVE A BAD RATING. PLEASE, IN SUCH CASE USE THE SEND REPORT OPTION OFFERED BY THE APPLICATION.
----------------------
ZT-180 Adhoc Switcher is an utility created to easily apply/restore the 'TxPower' (for some devices only) mod and to switch the Wi-Fi connection between the default infrastructure mode, which allows the connection to routers or access points, and the ad-hoc mode, which allows the connection to another Wi-Fi device, such a phone which is sharing its Internet connection (tethering).
For this application to work properly it needs a 'rooted' device.
NOTES:
- Sometimes the application may take a while to start, showing a blank screen; please wait.
- Before to switch to ad-hoc mode, remember to go to settings and set the SSID which your phone's tether application uses and, if necessary, the WEP key.
- Sometimes the ad-hoc connection may take a while or may not be made at first attempt; please wait 30 seconds or even 1 minute and if the connection is not at least attempted ("trying to connect to..." status) then disable and re-enable Wi-Fi; if the connection is attempted but is not successful then revise the SSID and WEP key on settings.
- The "refresh Wi-Fi on system boot" option causes Wi-Fi to be turned off and then turned on again at boot time, but only if the previous Wi-Fi state was enabled and there is no active connection after boot; if Wi-Fi was disabled when the device was powered off or rebooted then it will remain disabled at boot, or if device succeeded to establish a connection at boot by itself then the refresh will be omitted to keep that connection. This option may be useful on some situations when a device has problems to automatically connect at boot, although the Wi-Fi is on, but it can connect fine if the Wi-Fi is turned off and on again.

[2013-02-01] A Google User: Never use it. It breaks your phone! Nobody wants to break their phone and then root it to fix it. this app will break your wifi and then you will have to enter an adventure to get it fixed. It doesnt work! |
[2013-01-13] A Google User: Dangerous app!! Do not install You are in deep trouble if you rooted your device and allow this app to take control. It will mess up your wifi settings big time. You are warned! |
[2012-12-28] A Google User: Works Had a tablet from AGPtek ® that wouldn't acknowledge my phone's hotspot. Finally got the tablet rooted and the app installed, got a strange error involving "file does not exist" which I got after updating. Turned it on clicked the try it button like it suggests, my tablet saw my phones wifi. Couldn't help but notice a review below tries to say an app shouldn't be released to the public if their device malfunctions. DON'T ROOT YOUR DEVICE UNLESS YOU'RE WILLING TO BRICK IT! Responsibility... Seriously. |
[2012-11-17] A Google User: Does not work on GT540 device with 2.01 OS. Fails to restore config file and its permissions. Only manual cp&chmod helps. |

[2012-08-25] A Google User: Dosnt work on MY HP Touchpad Saw a user said this worked on his HP touchpad. It does not work on my HP Touchpad with Cyanogenmod 9 alpha 6. However the reason for my 5 star rating is because of the dedication from the developer. I hope to receive adhoc support soon for HP touchpad. |
[2012-07-28] A Google User: Nook (Encore) with CM9-ICS-4.0.3 Worked to allow me to connect to my notebook's ad-hoc network. Everything seems to be working fine. When going through the switching process the "*has been granted super user permissions" message popped up multiple times. Also sometimes while launching an app the same message shows up. As a whole this app does what it says it will and it works on my device. I have to say the developer hit gold with this one. The only other option I found was instructions about how to go in and modify system files to get the same result. This app is a great choice to try out first. |
[2012-07-26] A Google User: It phone needs to be rooted to work |
[2012-06-30] A Google User: App looped the startup sequence After installing the app and running it, my phone rebooted and then just looped the starting sequence, I spent an hour trying to get the app uninstalled, I left my phone rebooting itself for about 10 mins without doing anything and managed to remove the app and the looping has stopped, So a warning to you that this may happen. (Galaxy Ace) |
[2012-06-16] A Google User: Don't work on my root s2 I try and try but no luck.. |

[2012-05-23] A Google User: Galaxy tab 7.7 Did not work on galaxy tab 7.7, it stopped my wifi from working altogether but after following the steps in the description normal wifi (not adhoc) is working again. |
[2012-05-07] A Google User: Works on Kindle Fire 6.3.1 Confirmed working on Kindle Fire 6.3.1 (rooted). I'm actually posting this review from my Fire tethered to an ad hoc network right now! Had to side load it though as it doesn't show as compatible in market. PS, I'd buy this in a second if there were an ad free version. |
[2012-04-29] A Google User: Great Idea, however... Hi Hal, I downloaded your app to my (rooted) Huawei (HUAWEI U8510) Ideos X3 and attempted to install. Apart from the usual "One of the files was not where it should be...." error, all appeared to go fine during the install, however - upon running your app, I cannot find a way of getting to the settings menu within it, furthermore, it doesn't show up on my screen properly in portrait mode.... Neither am I totally sure how to even configure the app. I cannot make a connection to my transmitted hotspot and am totally at a loss as to how to use this. Could we have some more detailed usage notes please? |
[2012-03-21] A Google User: HP touchpad To reboots when I switch to ad-hoc mode :'( Pls tell me proper steps to run this app... I have Nokia with joiku spot for tethering |

[2012-03-15] A Google User: Working on Transformer tf101 ICS Root Works great on my Asus Transformer tf101! I'm running a custom Revolver parts beta rom (ice cream sandwich) available at xda developers, but I'm sure it would work with the stock rom as well, as long as you are rooted. Five stars! |

[2012-02-20] A Google User: Fixed my problem Great app now I can connect my galaxy tabr to my phone but after recent update it stopped working |
[2012-02-17] A Google User: Sadly - dont get if your unsure. I normally do not write reviews - but if it ivvolves their unsureness to loos a user's concectivity I have to believe it being malintent or neglogence. If your program makes my tablet not be able to use wifi after installing because my model of device was not mentioned.. then yes you should not what so ever release this program to the public. Please release something that does not work rather than make you not able to connect to the internet at all. Just get it right. or close... |
[2012-02-14] A Google User: Great! Works perfectly on HP Touchpad running ICS! This app deserves 6 stars! |
[2012-01-26] A Google User: FYI: Doesn't work on Nexus S Tried it on Nexus S running CM9 v1 (ICS) and it gets stuck connecting to AndroidTether. Also the menus don't display properly and you can't scroll down to see the other buttons. I know it's not intended for this device though so no complaints, more of a feedback review really. |
