SSH Tunnel (v. 1.5.5) Разработано Max Lv |
ROOT REQUIRED FOR ADVANCED FEATURES !
Before you start, please read the following instructions carefully.
If possible, please uninstall 1.4.X and any other previous editions before updating to 1.5.X.
"SSH Tunnel Provides a Secure Internet Connection for Your Android Device with One Click" -- LifeHacker
SSHTunnel is a SSH tunnel app for Android System. With this app and a configured server (typically configured with sshd and nginx / squid), you can easily browse internet through a SSH tunnel on your android devices.
NOTES:
1.To set proxy for the entire system or individual apps, you MUST ROOT YOUR DEVICES FIRST. For those ROMs without IPTABLES module, this app cannot work properly either.
2. To work with your private/public key, please store your key (only OpenSSH format, not putty) as the file /sdcard/sshtunnel/key
3. This App is DESIGNED ONLY FOR those guys blocked by Great Fire Wall in CHINA. If you'd like to get a GENERAL SSH CLIENT, please search "connectbot" in the market. Sorry for the inconvenience.
4. There exists a DNS Proxy in SSHTunnel to solve the DNS Pollution problem in China, which would try to fetch pre-defined HOSTS information from our web server. All these HOSTS files and source codes are open to public.
5. This project is published under the GNU General Public License v3.0. For more information, please visit our project site: http://sshtunnel.googlecode.com

[2013-01-12] A Google User: Works with password only Fails with RSA key setup in JB4.2.1 |
[2013-01-11] A Google User: Nice Very useful app :) |
[2013-01-11] A Google User: works well This does what it says on the box. Works well for tunneling my IRC and web traffic through a secure firewall box. My only complaint is with the handling of the profiles. It would be nice if the app started with a simple list of profiles to let the user choose which one they'd like to use. Instead, it starts with the current profile's settings. |
[2013-01-10] A Google User: Almost perfect Very nice. This is good for having if you like to use open WiFi hotspots, too. Just set up your own little linux server at home, and configure this to use it. Now all your traffic is encrypted from phone to your server, away from snoopers on the same hotspot you're using. Only issue I have is that the auto-connect based on SSID feature seems to not work. But that's certainly not a deal-breaker. |
[2013-01-07] A Google User: great |
[2013-01-06] A Google User: working perfectly |
[2013-01-04] A Google User: Excerllent Pretty stable and easy to use. As there are not much choices for proxy apps on Android, this one is good enough. Besides, it's free! |
[2013-01-03] A Google User: Great App Handy for tunneling into my home network while I am away. Thanks a billion. |
[2013-01-03] A Google User: Great! Can't live without it. |
[2013-01-03] A Google User: Thank you for everything I had issues running sshtunnel at first on 4.2.1 and couldn't figure out why my PuTTy keys weren't supported. I emailed Dev asking for help and to report my issues w/4.2.1 he was cool enough to point me in the right direction. A couple hours later there was a update in the market and sshtunnel supports 4.2.1, keys are accepted, and I'm loving it. |

[2013-01-02] A Google User: Nice Great APP |

[2012-12-29] A Google User: Unable to download it in China |
[2012-12-28] A Google User: Worked Well. Five Stars. Works well on my Note 2 with stock Hong Kong firmware. I am in China. For some reason when I tried to install it from Google Play it wouldn't download. The apk is available on the developers site though. So downloaded that on my laptop then used AndFTP to transfer it to my phone. When first setting it up though I first tried to go to the Individual Proxy settings and it crashed, I suspect that might have been because root access hadn't been granted or asked for. I then ran the app again and just connected to make sure that worked, at that point root access was requested. I then went back to Individual Proxy and was able to select "Internet" (default browser on my Note 2). Connecting again and checking my IP/Country confirmed that it was working. 5 Stars. This is an application that I would pay for, but purchased apps are blocked in China. On a side note, you can get access to paid for applications by inserting a non-China based sim card in your phone. I purchased a Hong Kong based sim card a couple of weeks ago and have since made purchases after returning to China, though you also need a non-Chinese credit card, my brother in New Zealand purchased me a temporary gift credit card. |
[2012-12-26] A Google User: it's not working on my gt-p7500 :( the app freezes just after it requests the ssh certificate and after the FC it takes a long time then it notifies that it's connected but not working on the native browser nor browser with manually proxy settings feature, plz help the transparency proxy s active and my tab is rooted. it works great on my mobile ! thnx :) |

[2012-12-11] A Google User: Reboots phone on Galaxy Note 2 Steer clear. The app doesn't even open up (well it opens to a black/blank screen and then your system locks up until reboot). |
[2012-12-07] A Google User: It works! We get across the Great Firewall by using it. |
[2012-11-30] A Google User: Amazing!!! Works like a charm. I did not try the functionality that requires root but local port tunnel works flawlessly. |
[2012-11-27] A Google User: Instant crash on 4.2 Been trying to use this on stock Nexus4 4.2 rom rooted, but the app instantly crashed upon launch |
[2012-11-25] A Google User: Great app! Very useful application. Works smoothly through WiFi but crashes on start when only 3G/H+ available. SSH Tunnel Beta works through all data interfaces but has no field "Remote Address" in connection settings. Strings like 10.0.0.1:8080 are not accepted either. Please fix if possible. |
[2012-11-20] A Google User: Doesn't work on Note 2 Doesn't work on my rooted Note 2. It crashes after it tries to boot. |

[2012-10-15] A Google User: 在4.04上面运行正常 在我的手机上运行正常,不过希望能把通知栏上面的小地球换个彩色的图标,这样好辩识连接状态。 |
[2012-10-03] A Google User: Doesn't encrypt password It doesn't have any kind of encryption in the sql database for the password. If you work on larger systems any security vuln needs to be taken seriously... Otherwise, its a very good app! |
[2012-10-03] A Google User: Amazing software!!! |

[2012-08-25] A Google User: ok work fine using wifi, force close using 3g, jb4.1.1 |
[2012-08-22] A Google User: Great app. Works as intended, but it seems Tweedle does not connect thru this proxy, VPN works with Tweedle, but not this app. |
[2012-08-18] A Google User: Perfect Just what i needed |
[2012-08-15] A Google User: Works like a charm on SGS3 |
[2012-08-15] A Google User: Great little app Keeps my browsing secure and fast. |
[2012-08-14] A Google User: WHY NO COMPRESSION?! Seriously, the 'beta' version which is way older supports compression and is awesome but lacks some of the features of this one. Without compression though I have to stick with that one and get more out of my data plan. |
[2012-08-10] A Google User: Nice. Only flaw is no donate version. |
[2012-08-06] A Google User: fc galaxy nexus stock 4.1.1 打不开 fc 清除数据以及重装都没用::>_<:: |
[2012-08-05] A Google User: Needs update Nice, but it doesn't work with Jelly Bean. |
[2012-08-02] A Google User: Currently crashing on startup on Galaxy Nexus Unfortunately, on my HSPA+ Galaxy Nexus running stock Jelly Bean it crashes on startup. Note: the SSH Tunnel (BETA) app appears to work fine, so check that out if you have the same problem. |
[2012-08-01] A Google User: Great until China started trying to hack me The day after I installed this on my phone, I noticed several Chinese IP addresses and a Korean IP address trying to connect to my SSH server. One of them tried to log in as Root and another was locked out from too many failed log in attempts. If you read the full description of this app, it says its intended for people in china to circumvent the "great firewall of China." Stay away from this app! |
[2012-08-01] A Google User: Request Love this -- very secure and snappy and a cinch to set up on my sgs3/ICS. One request? Can you add an android.intent.action to toggle the current state? |
[2012-07-30] A Google User: Great work. Love being able to tie this to automatically start a tunnel based on an SSID. Step into the office and immediately stop worrying about the IT department capturing your traffic. Not really using it to hide anything so much, but to have some peace of mind. Couldn't be better. Even have seen better speeds by tunnelling through to a fast SSH server than running a native connection - and if anything a slight decrease at times which is more expected in the security over raw access tradeoff. |
[2012-07-27] A Google User: Almost perfect The app is a bit finicky with the widget; I have occasional failed connections. It's also worth mentioning that this app will not work with DroidWall. When using DroidWall, you cannot use the global option to pass traffic through the tunnel. In fact, you can't force *any* apps through the tunnel. I haven't tried connecting to the local port, but I assume that much works just fine. It's probably something with the iptables ordering. The apps are probably being allowed out by DroidWall before getting to the rule that redirects the traffic through the SSH tunnel, but I haven't looked at the tables when both are enabled. If that's the case, this is more of a problem with DroidWall than this app. One other gripe. The key must be stored on the removable SD card, which I'd rather not do since the sd card can be more easily stolen and accessed. Despite all that, I give it 4 stars. It works and has a nice widget. Looking forward to the next version. |
[2012-07-26] A Google User: Ics + root not working Ip remains unchanged please fix |
[2012-07-24] A Google User: Kataklism Works great. Thanks. |
[2012-07-23] A Google User: Great, missing one feature This app is great. Works perfect. It would just be great to be able to run more than one tunnel profile at the same time to get different services tunneled. |
[2012-07-22] A Google User: works perfect app is straight forward and supports rsa keys, SOCKS, and other stuff i needed. only one that works me. great app, thanks! |
[2012-07-17] A Google User: What i need Excellent. |
[2012-07-14] A Google User: Not like open-ssh It takes much long time to show up the screen. |
[2012-06-24] A Google User: Needs fingerprint checking. Needs fingerprint checking please. |
[2012-06-21] A Google User: Beautiful Thanks a lot devs. Great software and open source. |
[2012-06-20] A Google User: Works well I use this to stream my music with StreamStar app. Sometimes the widget doesn't work. Same with auto reconnect. Also needs intents for calling from other apps. |
[2012-06-08] A Google User: Works beautifully The global proxy support makes this little gem indispensable when on an insecure or restricted network. Works with any SSH host. |
[2012-06-08] A Google User: Great working great. thanks |
[2012-06-02] A Google User: ????? What the hell is this for |
[2012-05-30] A Google User: A gift from God! Thanks to the app which brings back me the human rights! |
[2012-05-11] A Google User: S2 Can not connect at all. Uninstalling. |
[2012-05-09] A Google User: Security? Ssh server passwords are stored in cleartext in the device. WHY? |
[2012-05-06] A Google User: zixia easy to setup and use, love it, hate gfw. |
[2012-05-05] A Google User: Works poorly I have to constantly fiddle with this as I move from network to network. It disconnects when I use Wifi and I have to manually reconnect. It disconnects when T-Mobile's network hiccups and I have to manually reconnect. It's very irritating. And it only allows one forwarded port to be set. It's really only good if you root your phone so ALL connections go through it. But then it still has the dropped connection issue. For my purposes (tunneling IMAP and SMTP to my home system through ssh), 'SSH persistent tunnels' is a MUCH better app. |
[2012-05-01] A Google User: Cazz Would anyone tell me what to set for "host"? |
[2012-04-21] A Google User: Perfect to jump a wall Thanks for this great app! Just ssh from china to my european server, and its like beeing there! Running ICS on I9000 |
[2012-04-13] A Google User: Simply awesome Best app ever! |
[2012-04-13] A Google User: No clue I dont know what im doing |
[2012-04-08] A Google User: awesome works great on my device |
[2012-04-05] A Google User: Works great but... Works GREAT!...sometimes. Other times it fails saying it couldnt connect....Why? Please...tell me Why? lol. Maybe a log function would help very much! |
[2012-03-18] A Google User: Croc Very good app as far as I can tell. |
[2012-03-14] A Google User: TF101 - ICS with root access - not working used to work when I was running prime rom 2.1.0 (honeycomb 3.2.1) flashed to vanilla ICS and now it says that it connects, but my ip address is unchanged. I just installed the beta, and that appears to work, I'm assuming this is a problem with the last version before the beta and ICS? once this is fixed I'd be giving it 5 stars. |
[2012-03-12] A Google User: An app like this makes me feel so much more secure. |
[2012-03-07] A Google User: Nice One of the most useful apps you can find on the market! |
[2012-03-03] A Google User: Great. Would be even better if supported key based authentication. |
[2012-03-03] A Google User: Great app This thing works well with my key-pair, and is very solid. Thanks! |
[2012-03-03] A Google User: Great for needed connections This app works great so far to allow me to secure and stay logged in to irc. or instead of a vpn. Thanks! |
[2012-03-02] A Google User: Perfect! Best app for securing your connections. |
[2012-02-11] A Google User: cool but... needs to enable key based authentication |
[2012-01-08] A Google User: Doesn't work any more... but beta does! For some reason this stopped fully working some time ago. I say 'fully' because it does allow me to connect to some overseas websites that are blocked in China (amnesty, imdb), but not facebook and twitter. I downloaded the beta, and that allows me to use the facebook and twitter apps again, though I can't access those sites through a browser. Weird. |
[2011-12-31] A Google User: Perfect! Exactly what I was looking for! Simple to use and no issues at all. Good work! |
[2011-12-22] A Google User: Update: this also works on ICS on galaxy nexus Works great on xoom 3.1 and droid x 2.3 I'm using private key authentication with amazon ec2. No complaints |
[2011-12-21] A Google User: Thanks Great App. Well thought out and executed. Keeps my privates off of open wifi networks and away from carrier scrutiny. It was the only way I was comfortable using my phone in China. Thanks much dev. |
[2011-12-21] A Google User: Works wonderfully But could use a bit nicer widget |
[2011-12-18] A Google User: Love this! Enables me to use Pandora and Netflix while visiting Canada. |
[2011-12-11] A Google User: Wonderful I was use this to connect to my home ssh server running freesshd. It works wonderfully. It also makes me feel a lil better knowing that the carrier is not able to snoop in on my web traffic!! |
[2011-11-20] A Google User: Almost perfect Add in locale connectivity so I can include the ssh function in my tasker profiles and this will be the most useful tool on my device! |
[2011-11-13] A Google User: Best app ever This is the best app for this purpose |
[2011-11-09] A Google User: great app but sometimes doesn't connect and the error msg offers no clue why. |
[2011-10-31] A Google User: Awesome.. but try BETA version As with some others, I couldn't get this to work with a homebrewed server. But the BETA version works just fine (or so it claims). So I'm going to rate this 5*, but people might need to try the other version! |
[2011-10-20] A Google User: Fantastic Totally worth rooting my phone! It lets me do anything on my company's locked down network. |
[2011-10-19] A Google User: Great Thanks for the patch! ;) |
[2011-10-10] A Google User: Great Exactly what I was looking for. |
