[2012-07-15] Justin: Weird data It displays people that I haven't talked to in five years at the top of my list. Also Craigslist is apparently a top contract for me :P. Uninstalling. |
[2012-07-14] Aaron: Yes!! |
[2012-07-13] Combatiente: Amazingly Powerful Universal Address Book Really awesome, hands down a 5 star application that collects everyone you've ever known, providing you with photos and contact information with your contacts. A MUST have app in business |
[2012-07-13] Bill: App should be renamed, "Dumbr." If all you want is a more advanced replacement for your phone's built-in contacts app, this app ain't it. Smartr is like an MIT whiz kid, promising untold riches with his spreadsheets, but you have to give up TONS of basic functionality to get it. |
[2012-07-12] Charles: You need this I really don't think the low rating people understand this app. It is an incredibile tool for keeping track of, finding, and keeping up with everyone you have ever contacted via phone, SMS, email (assuming your mail goes to your phone or you have the main XOBNI service). Evernote is trying to emulate this and, so far, is falling a little short. Microsoft is trying to emulate this (in Outlook....not so much on phones), and, so far, is falling short. I have about 1000 contacts in my phone. SMARTR immediately finds about 7,000 contacts and hooks me up with all of them with them within a few minutes of installation. Suggestion for improvement: make adding a contact (including additional contact information from Facebook, LinkedIn, or wherever) a one-click exercise on the phone. |
[2012-07-10] Josh: fair idea, not well executed i prefer samsungs touchwiz ui and phonebook to anything out there, but since rooting and rom'ing to ICS i've been needing a replacement. this didn't fit the bill. it does 3 things: *pulls contacts from many places, a lot of apps and interfaces do this. nothing special. *puts the most common contacts at the front, (helpful, and a neat idea) but it flickers through a bunch, and who goes to their contacts without knowing who they're looking for anyway?! i dont need this. *it synchronizes to the cloud. sure. great. whatever. i already use google contacts, and they do a great job of this. why would i possibly want another account, one that could possibly compromise my friends information? - was hoping it would streamline my contacts interface. it didn't. wasn't any fewer swipes or clicks to accomplish anything, just more clutter. wish i could say something great about it. |
[2012-07-05] Daniel: Needs to be more simple This app really does work great for bringing contact info from different places and merging it all. However it just over complicates things by dragging in your top email contacts. So what you end up with is a mess of people mixed with subscriptions and auto emails as contacts which you cannot delete. With having no control over your contacts it doesn't even have a basic list of contacts, you can either search, or scroll through the mess of Top 10/40/100 which seems stupid not to have such a basic option. |
[2012-07-05] droidsalot: Fail. No, I will not create an account, while giving your app full access to my Contacts and Social sites, before I even get to test drive Smartr. Experience: fail, Privacy: fail, Presentation: fail. Uninstall. |
[2012-07-04] Alon: Objective review The positive: 1. The app looks great. 2. The app is fun, it can scan your emails and summarize your 'relationship' with your contacts in an amusing, yet useless, way. 3. The app DOES MAKE IT EASY to find obscure contacts, and I am talking here about people that were on the same mailing list as you 2 years ago. Which brings us to The negative: 1. Zero control over your contacts in this app. Meaning you cannot delete, add, mark as favorite, remove from favorites etc. In your top 10 list, which must be the equivalent of "favorites", you will get yourself as #1, mailing lists (like updates from LinkedIn etc) as #2, and your ex-girlfriend which you emailed a lot with last year but just can't remove from your top-10 list even though you really want to. 2. Without a favorite list, you are forced to using the search box, which will search through thousands of contacts, most of them whom you do not know at all, you cannot search alphabetically for a contact. 3. This app will go through all your mail!! do you have semi-sensitive email from work in your box? then forget about it. giving it 3 stars for being a fun concept, and now uninstalling. I hope they improve it soon. |
[2012-07-02] Kaushik: Merging contacts Is there a way where I can merge my contacts as I am getting 2-3 duplications |
[2012-07-01] Cris: Great app Very nice and complete app. |
[2012-07-01] codeprodige: Sucks ! It kept showing me people from Facebook that I didn't even know. I was only interested in my own contacts. It was so disorganized. |
[2012-07-01] imugli: Uninstalled Great concept but why do I have people I contact every day at the bottom of my top 200 and people I never contact in my top 10. Why can't I add people to my top 10 manually? Why can't I delete contacts and have the changes sync? Not ready for prime time... |
[2012-06-26] Traci: Hott app Get it now |
[2012-06-16] the 6/24/2012 Why one more account? I did not get to use the app. The app will not start unless you create an account. I promptly declined and uninstalled. |
[2012-06-15] Joe: Have to agree .. Per other comments .. smartr just isnt smart enough about the contacts i'd like to see on the frontpage .. |
[2012-06-14] Rev Kyle Vanhove: Unusable Doesn't allow deleting contracts yet. Get ready to see people who got CC'Ed on an email you got three years ago. |
[2012-06-13] Sheryl: Stupid Added a ton of people I don't even know. Apparently, this app is adding people that were CC'd in emails to me, people I've sent one email to ever... and people on DB who I have mutual friends with. I had 756 contacts but I only talk to maybe 90 of em. |
[2012-06-12] Abed: Hoe |
[2012-06-11] George: Wow! Now I feel like my contacts are really easily found. GREAT APPLICATION and easy to use. Should be the stock Android contact app. |
[2012-06-06] Noah: Whoa there Over 2000 contacts and no way to curate them? I tried this despite the low rating because lifehacker recommended it but I am seriously questioning their judgment. |
[2012-05-31] Steve: Thank you... Most of the complaints seem confused or outdated. If all you want is your contacts then configure it not to discover via email. As contact discovery, relationship reminder, this is great. Finding an old email and attachments sparks memories. Better integration of notes and tasks. Sharing would be nice but my unique history may make that impossible. |
[2012-05-23] texrees: Awesome Great job. Works like a charm |
[2012-05-21] TC: Improvements needed Needs improvement so you can easily add contacts to phone |
[2012-05-19] Reinis: Problems adding accounts Guess this is one time install app... cause the next time you try to install and add your Gmail account,it says its already busy... seems great, but this bug makes it unusable. |
[2012-05-17] Joel: Too many incorrect entries Need to be able to edit/hide entries. Would be great. Has potential! |
[2012-05-14] Joshua: Gmail Activation Error Initial Setup Gmail authentication fails.. i even went to my computer to change the password (just to make sure I was getting it right) still failed.. wouldnt respond after that.. Please Fix - MetroPCS Galaxy Indulge |
[2012-05-13] Aaron: Overkill |
[2012-05-12] Andrew: Awesome Faster than my contacts list |
[2012-05-11] John: Tablet version Loaded to my GalaxyS2 seems to work ok but not fully tested. Tried the same for my Asus Transformer but App is not compatible. I like to use similar apps on both devices, when will it be available? |
[2012-05-11] Erik: Poor implementation Good idea, poor implementation. People I've mailed a couple of times is at top. Can't find list of all contacts. Not usable... |
[2012-05-11] glawton: cool concept, bloated great concept, poorly executed leading to information bloat and overhwelm, better categorization and the ability to specify the level of contact granularity. i mostlyh dont care about every person that has emailed me. more useful would be better and syncing with the people already in my contact list. |
[2012-05-07] Andrew: Was expecting more Linkedin connection not working even after a few reboots and reinstalls. No customizability, sits as separate contact app rather than integrating with androids Contacts. |
[2012-05-05] Chris: Cchensley76 Terrible app mixed everything up maybe had 10% of info right |
[2012-05-03] Kyle: Needs work Pretty neat idea/concept. Doesn't seem like Facebook contacts are sorted very well in terms of importance. Wish it wouldn't show my Facebook acquaintances or showed my facebook groups. Also needs the ability to delete contacts altogether. Just because I get an email per day from grouping does not mean they need to be in my contact list and especially not #2 on it. |
[2012-04-29] Kevin: Too much Just wanted more than basic. |
[2012-04-29] Wouter: Great concept, rough around the edges Nice tool to mine for info you already have |
[2012-04-27] iBanj: Nice UI... can be quite depressing Issue: Not everyone that I have made contact with is on my contact list. This just makes a mess of my attempt to reduce my contact list. |
[2012-04-24] Angel: Love it I also have it on my iphone. Indispensable for finding contacts :) |
[2012-04-23] faisal minhaj: F**k |
[2012-04-21] HappyPaul55: Dumb app |
[2012-04-19] Chris: Love it Super helpful! |
[2012-04-17] Think+: Perfect |
[2012-04-16] Eric: Sooo useful I love it, inputing names and numbers is such a drag. The app finds everyone for me and their contact info. I think the ranking of people by importance is very clever, alphabetical seems outdated |
[2012-04-16] adam: Okay It is great for emails and social networks but why won't you allow it to sync with the phones contacts so that l the phone numbers are all synced into each contact?? |
[2012-04-15] Duke: Can't delete contacts I have an obscene amount of contacts who i don't even talk to because of this app, why can i not delete them from within app? This app is not a contact manager |
[2012-04-14] seifist: Good but obvious flaws It's good, but the obvious flaws are inexcusable. Cannot sync with gmail contacts, cannot export contacts, so voice dialer won't pick them up. Too little control of how the lists and display works. |
[2012-04-13] randy: Could not register When syncing my gmail it did nothing it acted like it was going to but never loaded green loading froze at beggining Samsung Captivate |
[2012-04-12] Eirik: <3 this app! I have become completely addicted to Smartr. It has saved my day so many times when finding contact data I didnt have in my address book. Much love for the Smartr team! |
[2012-04-12] Mat: Tons of potential! I am seeing long lost friends on the list and the UI is slick! |
[2012-04-11] Steven: This is a magic address book Smartr Contacts automatically found all my contacts based on my emails, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter accounts. All my contacts are ranked by importance so the most important people are at the top. If you haven't tried it, you must. I can't live without it. |
[2012-04-11] Michael: My go to contacts app Love its always up to date too |
[2012-04-11] Brian: Awesome All other address books are laughable in comparision. |
[2012-04-11] Michael: Great app This automatic address book is a must have. It is magic. |
[2012-04-07] Jim: Got hacked Funny how two of my accounts were compromised after i put my credentials into this app a day later... they sent work from home emails from my account... didnt change my passwords. I do have id theft protection and it is under investigation. Do not download! |
[2012-04-06] sanam: Poor Does not works on Galaxy note |
[2012-04-04] Tim: Very useful for me This is a great app. I am constantly reminded of a face, a name, and our correspondence history when I open it. Works well on my Samsung Vibrant (Android 2.2) and I love the Gmail chrome interface, too. |
[2012-04-03] Adrian: Not good Absolute crap |
[2012-04-03] Eric: Ok... Works good but gives me waaay to many contacts with no way of deleting them that I could find |
[2012-03-31] Brandon: no phone contacts? its not showing phone contacts. also, at the "start" menu, there is no browse address book or w/e its called like you see in the video. Htc droid incredible 2. |
[2012-03-31] liron: Hoped for more Too many unknown contacts, and I can't choose which of them to display on first screen. Couldn't sign in to Facebook account, for some reason the keyboard didn't come up! |
[2012-03-30] Marius: Useless. I need to see my contacts, not the girlies that the friends of my friend's friends used to email 6 months ago. Uninstalling. |
[2012-03-29] Emerald: Don't work, don't get it |
[2012-03-27] dadeedjay: Spammmm Sends spam to all your contacts!!!!! |
[2012-03-27] rob: Picks up too many "contacts", people I don't know at all, I now have nearly 10,000 "contacts". I love Xobni on my pc, less love for Smatr. |
[2012-03-21] Katrina: DOESN'T WORK!!! |
[2012-03-20] Sam: Poorly coded software Does not get beyond login screen, needs a lot of further development to make it usable. It's a shame because the idea behind the app is great. It'll be a hit when it's properly tested, which at the moment it is not. |
[2012-03-17] Mark: It works. Don't know why it only has a 3/5 rating. |
[2012-03-13] Photo Larry: Stupidr This should be naming of app...worthless does not work at all...says processing for fifteen minutes...no thanks |
[2012-03-13] Erin: So disappointing! I love xobni on my computer, and it was great on my blackberry. But it won't work at all on my Photon! Just tries to log in for 10 mins then fails! Fix the bug please!!! |
[2012-03-12] John: Living it Great app |
[2012-03-10] NicknTulsa: Amazing App This app is amazing at what it does. It agragates information from Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn. Looks at your contacts then searches these social networks and appends this info to your contacts. Have an email address only? It can fill in the name and add a photo if it finds a match. The only thing it doesn't do is append this new info to your contacts. Nevertheless just imagine how you could use this. Sales tool to see and get more info on a contact. Social or dating tool? |
[2012-03-09] Richie: Program is okay But an awful permanent memory hog that allocates itself a level 100 a higher priority than Sense... Uninstalled! |
[2012-03-03] John: Useless.. Really only cares about emails I don't like people I don't k ow showing up purely because we were both sent a group email once. |
[2012-03-02] Aaron: Good start Great ui, but functionally useless since it connects to text messages instead of email when I try to message someone. |
[2012-03-01] Jeraziah Michiel Frankoiz: dumb & useless this should be called dumbr, i dont have 154 contacts, across my fb google & twitter accounts, it also places people i don't know on my list, seriously wtf? |
[2012-02-27] Scott: Great with One Drawback Smartr contacts is a great free app that is right on the precipice of unbelievable. It did an outstanding job of organizing my out of control contacts list, with its duplicates, and triplets and worse. It somehow combined the multiples into one and gives me relevant information about each one, together with a photo scrounged from a social media source. I love all of that. BUT . . . wierdly, it does not bring through either postal addresses or the carefully managed and important-to-me notes I had for each. |
[2012-02-27] Burad: Great app |
[2012-02-25] Mohammed: Rubbish Doesnt go past the google authentication screen. Galaxy S 2.2 froyo. |
[2012-02-23] mlc: Love it! Very smart, great idea |
[2012-02-23] Robert: Epoc Fail! So incredibly disappointed with this app. Does NOTHING it claims! |
[2012-02-21] Brock: Great potential but unusable right now The interface is nice and it runs very smoothly; good features. But it has horribly mixed up all of my contacts so that the emails of multiple people are under one contact name, and the contact photos don't always match the name. |
[2012-02-20] Rolli: Good idea and poor execution Contacts are available for each email adress they have and there is no way to merge them. Furthermore the contacts shown at the top are not the most contacted contacts - they must be somewhere down the list. At the moment this app really lacks common sense and I see no reason to use it. What a shame.... |
[2012-02-20] Arzakem: Pretty Awesome! I like the idea. I have one complaint though, the homescreen search button is taking up a lot of space area and the 2-lined update pictures below are shouting for more visibility. If not for that I would have given the hi-5. |
[2012-02-18] Jorge: CAN'T DELETE CONTACTS NEEDS MORE WORK! |
[2012-02-18] Andy: Terrible app |
[2012-02-18] Xrii: Clean UI but just doesn't work reliably |
[2012-02-18] Bryan: Meh Got app after seeing on lifehacker. Idea is good but should have better way to organize how contacts sync. Self promoting plug in the signature was a deal breaker. Uninstalled |
[2012-02-18] Gregory: Bad app, useless and spammy |
[2012-02-17] Josh: Why?! Why could they need me to create an account? I don't want spam mail!! |
[2012-02-17] ExistingLight: Very unfinished. Can't add second Gmail account and won't log into Facebook. Limited editing options and no help. Uninstalled after 30 minutes. |
[2012-02-17] Paul: Great app Working well so far. Pity it doesn't sync with viber. |
[2012-02-17] Ignition-Images.co.uk: Useless So my brother and girlfriend are down in the bottom of the top 40 yet my own account is most important? And an email address I sent one message to is in 4th 5th and 6th place, useless. |
[2012-02-17] Mo Money: Can't delete contacts I can't delete contacts! Just because someone emailed me doesn't mean they should be in my contacts |
[2012-02-17] Kevin: It's okay... I like the built-in ICS people app better, which is easier to navigate and has less unimportant information. |
[2012-02-17] John: Piece of junk! Tried for about a day but never gets past the Gmail authentication page. Just presents a blank page and can go no further. App is completely useless. Support says it must be that my Internet connection is down, but doesn't work on WIFI at home, office or on 3G even after reboot. |
[2012-02-16] Matthew: lots of potential, more customization needed The idea is great, but there's some tweaking to be done. I can't move my ex out of my top 10 even though we haven't talked in months, and there's a good dozen people that I e-mailed once a ways back that are in my top 40. It's fine that the app puts them there, but give me the ability to change it. |
[2012-02-16] Manda: I don't have almost 5,000 contacts Even if I had imported everyone in my GMail address, Google+, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn accounts, I wouldn't have nearly that many contacts. There are people showing up that I have never, ever contacted and have no idea who they are. If the app is trolling mailing lists I'm on and messages that have been sent to me from those mailing lists? That's kind of ridiculous. Then there's the fact you can't delete anything from the app. The app is pretty and it is a great idea, but there needs to be a lot done to make it work as it should. |
[2012-02-16] TheMasterGee: Bull No way I'm creating an account .. for my contacts thanks very much |
