Announcify (formerly known as SayMyName) reads out loud the caller's name.

What? You hate pulling your out of your pocket everytime someone contacts you? Or, even worse, you hate interrupting what you're doing at the moment, expecting a horrible important message from your girlfriend, but it was just your grandma? Annoying...
But, don't fear, mate. Announcify is going to save you from annoying calls and unnecessary interruptions.

Additionally, Announcify offers a broad range of plugins - from all kinds of messaging, like Facebook, Twitter, SMS and Gtalk - to crazy things like reading out loud a book for you and an API allowing other developers to integrate their app easily.

Works as expected But unfortunately needs tts with voices. Shame Google Android comes without it. In Android, I'm still looking for functionality I had "out of the box" in old phones: voice dialing (even 12yold Philips Ozeo has it), speaking calller's name (had it since SE K550i), rising volume of alarms - just to mention some. Announcify brings me closer to satisfactory performance of my Galaxy Mini.

Filter contact problem Its really good app, but need some tweak, for example In sense 4.1 with android 4.0.4 i cant filter some contact. Okay Ordinarily, it works fine. However, there are times when it fails. It produces a message that the user HAS to interact with in order to continue, pause, or kill. The problem is that if you screen isn't on, then you have no way of knowing that you have a prompt that you have to interact with. While the app waits for input, it is constantly in the foreground and consumes a lot of battery. For 2 hours, I had a notification that waited for my input and 20% of my battery was consumed in the process. Not good.

Was great as SaymName, now its more complicated As saymyname, it was simple.. now with the new avatar, there are far too many settings and I still can't figure out how to get it to read my SMS without going in for customized annoucements... May have added features, but made it more complicated for novices.. prefer the older version that I managed to move back to with my backup.

ICS not working properly.... As stated before, it would be an awesome app if the developer could get it to work properly on ICS: I've configured it and runs fine the first time, after that it does nothing and turns my ringtone to silent mode... running on Huawei Ascend G300 ICS 4.0.3 B926.. I would give 5 stars if worked, hence, 1 for the effort!

Awesome idea, seems to be not supported in ICS This looks like an awesome app. Unfortunately I am in ICS and other users have reported the same problem I am having - the app works for one single notification and then does not read anything else aloud until you force stop it and clear the app data an start from scratch.

Does what it says, for free! Can you ask for more? This little app does what it says and it does it for FREE! I don't know about you, but I don't think you can ask for more than that! Integration with Locale is by far the best feature which makes it easy to enable/disable based on various situations... Highly recommended!

How to have articles or webpages read aloud? I installed Announcify on my android phone in order for it to read articles to me while I drive (various formats, pdf, doc, html, txt). Apparently the Announcify extension for Chrome does this. Can the android app do it? Or, can anyone suggest another app that performs this function? There must be a big market for it. I don't need txt msgs read aloud.

Worked best before ICS Now, in ICS, is saying the name once, than it stops. In notification area a message appears allowing to pause, kill,etc. After process is killed, works again only once. If fixed, I'll give it 5 stars.

Still using SayMyName I have the occasional complaint about SMN but overall it works pretty well. The reviews for Announcify have been a little sketchy so I'll wait a bit longer before upgrading. Once I upgrade, it'll be tough to revert if I don't like it.
