NowAlert is an application that gives you greater control of message alerting and notifications on your Android 2.2 device. NowAlert allows you to set up messaging profiles that will alert you even when your phone is set to silent so you never miss another important message again (See the few things you should remember about NowAlert section below).

NowAlert allows you to configure message alerts based on rules and filters of who the message is from, keywords in the subject line, and keywords in the body of the message. You are then able to set a ring tone, ring tone duration, vibration mode, and time of day. Once a message is received that meets the criteria, NowAlert will override the mode your phone is in and alert you.

NowAlert works with email and SMS messages. NowAlert is currently available for phones running on the Andriod 2.2 platform. The email functionality of NowAlert will not work on a phone running Android 2.1.

A few things you should remember when using NowAlert:

For the SMS text and email alerting to work correctly you will need to successfully complete the email settings configuration component in NowAlert.

NowAlert is designed for Android 2.2.  We have some users on Android 2.1 but only the SMS alerting is working on this platform.

NowAlert supports gmail, yahoo, and other free email accounts.  You will need to provide your email address, password, and the imap server address for your provider.  The SMS text and email alerting will not work without this info.  NowAlert does not currently work with Exchange ActiveSync.

Always restart your phone after making changes.  NowAlert runs as a service in the background and you will need to restart in order for your changes to be applied.

The default volume of the alert is based on the media volume currently set on your phone.  If your phone is set to silent, the alert plays at the media volume.  The media volume has to be set for the alerting to work.
