With imo instant messenger, it’s easy to stay in touch with friends on your existing IM accounts on Facebook Chat, Google Talk, Skype, MSN, ICQ/AIM, Yahoo, Jabber, and Myspace.

With imo beta, users can preview and try new and experimental IM features. However, the beta app is less stable than the official imo instant messenger app. For the latest stable version, download our official app at https://market.android.com/details?id=com.imo.android.imoim.

We're actively adding new features to the beta app, so please send us feedback to android@imo.im. We read every email!

Standard features:
- No need to create an account with imo
- Concurrent sessions on different devices
- Option to save chat history to imo.im
- Voice IMs
- Group chat
- Send multimedia attachments - audio, video, files

Why we ask for permissions:

INTERNET: connect to imo servers
ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: react to network changes so we can reconnect
VIBRATE: for notifications
RECORD_AUDIO: for voice IMs
RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED: auto start on boot
INSTALL_SHORTCUT: create home screen shortcuts
WAKE_LOCK: very short term partial cpu lock to make sure messages are sent and received while phone is sleeping
WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE: for caching pictures

Meh. Doesn't open properly, and randomly resets the connection approx every 5 minutes. Only messenger program that does it.

This is my go-to IM app on Android, iOS, and even on PC. But I don't quite appreciate the new split-screen style as the chat pane is now too narrow.

Latest upgrade a few steps in the wrong direction I lost copy and paste which I like to use to throw things into a translator. If my friend goes idle or offline, my last message to them gets pushed up the stack to a previous message field disrupting the flow of conversation. At times, my friends will not show up on the list of contacts. And like alot of other people, I'd like to see the option to change the battery killing white background to black.

The only IM client you need Just awsome. Sits in your status bar, deals with all your protocols. Never had a problem with it.
