GMail Label Notifier + Widgets (v. 0.999997) Разработано hubris |
Good news! Google have unlocked the Label access with their Gmail apps once more.
IMPORTANT: Update Gmail to 2.3.6 (for phones) or 4.0.5 for tablets/ICS) *THEN* update this app and the IMAP workaround shouldn't be necessary anymore (quicker updates, less battery usage). If you don't do this, and update my app then the Gmail app, you may have to reinstall my app before it works again!
PROBLEMS: Update your Gmail app then uninstall and reinstall Gmail Label Notifier. Menu-> Export/Import settings if you wish to retain settings (widgets will have to be re-created and IMAP credentials re-entered however).
(The Gmail app requires different permissions now, and some devices can require a restart and/or a reinstall of the app after you've updated Gmail i'm afraid).
IF YOU WISH TO REVERT TO IMAP MODE: For some reason, with Gmail 2.3.6 they haven't unlocked the Important or Priority Inbox labels yet (hopefully they will fix this in the next version). If you *need* this functionality you'll have to revert to using the IMAP workaround again. Do this by hitting menu in the app and selecting "Force IMAP mode", then long-press your email address and select "Force IMAP PW" and enter your details (if necessary). The app will then revert to the IMAP workaround the previous version relied upon.
And remember to set Gmail up to sync any labels you wish to be monitored in this app (Gmail app -> settings -> account -> labels and syncing)!
Per-label notifications for GMail! Options include:
* Vibration pattern (inc. morse code)
* Notification sound
* LED Colour (depending on your device, not all supported)
* Icon colour (10 delicious colours to choose from)
* Notification repetition
* Override silent mode
* Multiple accounts
* Disable notifications depending on time of the day
Also includes widgets:
* customisable icons (select an image from your gallery as your homescreen widget)
* a selection of normal mailbox/label icons in a multitude of colours
* customisable names
* show/hide name, zero count, total message count
And now new Tablet widget too:
* Have up to eight widgets in a stack on your homescreen, with all the same customisable options as normal widgets!
Problems/feature requests? Check the website ( https://sites.google.com/site/androidlabelnotifier/faq ) for more details before emailing me please! I don't have the time to respond to every request alas, and alot of your questions and problems are answered there!
Also *please* don't leave bug reports as comments on the market, i don't check them often and it's unlikely i'll be able to respond!
Requires:
* Android gmail app
* Syncing enabled for labels under the main GMail application
* No task-killers please!

[2012-07-13] Victor: The best!!!!by far!!!! If i had to keep ONE app in my phone Would be This... Give us more!!!!!! Something new... SOME NEW Labels COLOR,AND INSANE BURN!!!! |
[2012-07-08] Brooke: Grrrrrrrrrrr Does NOT play well with ICS. I used to love this app. I have uninstalled several times & I cannot get the widgets to work right. Moto Razr. |
[2012-06-19] Peter: Great |
[2012-06-16] tayy: Ok. Very confusing but managed to work it out! Dont like the message count layout how it has the brackets with 9 next to it should be more like the iphone |
[2012-06-09] fuubaa: Only app working on ICS (Ice cream sandwich) that shows unread messages Very versatile, the developer obviously keeps up to date and regularly maintains the app |
[2012-05-29] Bert: Not ready yet Used it on my Galaxy Note, with ICS, but it often crashes often, unfortunately. Also integration with ICS is not optimal. Naming of accounts (icon) does not show in tbe notifications. And even after removing the widgets, it still sends notifications. Hope it will work one day. Or Google sees the light. |
[2012-05-23] Oswaldo: Great solution I love this app. It will be the best once your able to disable conversation mode |
[2012-05-22] aZaFred: Love this app. Need tasker integration though I know you mention in your FAQ that you were not using tasker and therefore integration would take a while. However, I am a fervent user of tasker, and it would integrate very well with this tool. Here is my scenario: When I am on call, I am using gmail label notifier to notify (!) me of pages with repeat and annoying sounds / vibration. For now I have to switch manually between when I am on call, and when I am not. However, Tasker knows when I am on-call and could take care of that switch for me. Also, I have some labels that I only need to be notified about during weekdays / business hours. Then again, Tasker knows about it. Finally, when I am on vacation, I don't want any business related labels to notify me. Funny enough, Tasker knows when I am on Vacation ;) All in all, I would totally be willing to help with this if you need me too, but I believe this integration would be a huge win for a lot of people. Cheers! |
[2012-05-13] Mr. Freeze: Rooted EVO-Living in the past! - Even though Google reintroduced a new Label API for their Gmail client in v2.3.6 - I'm staying on Gmail v2.3.4.1 / with the older DB-API's - as both of these "older" products seem to work better together - and can also see all labels like "Important" and "Priority Inbox". |
[2012-05-11] bgarlock: People complaing about 'missing' notifications I would bet if you miss notifications, you are probably using a task killer. I doubt that this product would make you miss a notification. Bottom line: REMOVE your task killer before assigning 1-star. Google why task killers are a bad idea for android if you don't believe me. |
[2012-05-03] rusmanarief: At last What ive been waiting for! |
[2012-05-02] Colleen: love it! i will never miss an important email again. this tool works great to track incoming emails, which is needed when you receive 200 emails a day! |
[2012-04-30] Poli: I have had enough! Made me miss VERY important emails 2 days in a roll: only notified me of them 1 hour later! I keep uninstalling it every time it lets me down, and then I install it again hoping it got better. Enough already. Removing it. |
[2012-04-29] J.T.: Widget has issues on ICS/Galaxy Nexus... This app has great potential with it's accurate unread counter. However, the widget label does not align/display properly on my ICS/Galaxy Nexus homescreen - 5 Stars when this gets updated! |
[2012-04-13] Mike: Awesome |
[2012-04-13] neoxx: Used it since version 1 Nice widget, with a bug on Galaxy Nexus though: the notification in the task bar does not disappear if unread mail has been marked as read; the icon updates properly. Please fix :) fyi: I turned of notification and use the default Gmail notification as a workaround. |
[2012-04-12] Wes: Force closes all the time Ever since the new update, the app force closes more than 80% of the time. Was flawless prior. |
[2012-04-10] Robert: Gmail notifier this widget is awesome. now i separate work and play |
[2012-04-09] LockedNLoaded: Dev is back & improving app Dev now answers emails prompt & open to feedback. New version is better on battery due to Google changes. Good customizations just need to stop the default logging to the SD card & make it optional. |
[2012-04-08] JP: Great App that meets my needs Works as expected and allowed me to stop carrying multiple pagers for work. All comes to my phone. |
[2012-04-07] Ulrich: Brilliant Das Update ist Spitze. Schneller gehts kaum. Dieses App ist sein Geld wert. |
[2012-04-07] Rod: Great Product Great for notification on only select emails! |
[2012-04-06] Brenton: Gotta love it! Really happy with this app. Good to see continued support. Thank you. |
[2012-04-06] Derek: Glad to see update. I stopped using this when the Gmail update broke it. Glad to have it back. |
[2012-04-06] Christy: Fast Faster than regular Gmail notifications, and love the customization options, glad to see it getting updated! |
[2012-03-27] Lloyd: I like it for honeycomb 3.2 Works fine. Wish it would auto start. |
[2012-03-21] dalii: good vsechno parada jen skoda, ze se lisi vyber ikon widgetu a ikon v notifikacni liste, rovnez barvy se neshoduji (rozdilny vyber) |
[2012-03-19] Ingo: Works well, sucks battery Love this app, but it sometimes kills my battery. BetterBatteryStats and Badass Battery Monitor both show this app as keeping my phone in wakelock, sucking up juice. I *really* wish it would be more efficient... it's easily a 5-star app. |
[2012-03-07] Stephane: Great functionality but drains battery, unusable This is a great app and I love the functionality and interface, but it really drains battery, more than 50% of my overall consumption. This makes the app unusable on my phone. Also, I found limited functionality in the Gmail standard apps which can enable notifications on starred messages or priority inbox independently. |
[2012-03-02] Bryan: says "no email accounts found" then immediately closes. wont allow me to do anything. uninstalling. (X2 on 2.3.4) |
[2012-02-28] Bruce: Does not work Spent hours trying to get this app to accept a password even setup the two step authentication but nothing. Total waste of time |
[2012-02-24] Karen: App sucks DO NOT BUY!!! This app doesn't work and the guy won't give a refund! I've emailed him 4 TIMES and he has never responded. Don't waste your 99¢ |
[2012-02-09] Zynux: Just what I needed Works great, android 3.2 Asus Transformer. When I discovered gmail didn't do label notifications by default found this app and it fixed all my problems! :) Finally I can have my emails organised the way I want |
[2012-01-10] Steve: wont work! cant get a refund? i was excited about this ap and read that there was a fix....it still dodnt work and google says ot wont work woth android phones and devices please help me to fox it I would love to change my review. |
[2012-01-05] RichardTerris: Awesome! This app is fantastic! I've been trying to figure out how to get notifications for a while now and this app has done it! Gmail labels are excellent and I use them all the time, but sometimes if you're waiting for an email, it can be a pain to have to continually navigate to that label to check! does exactly what it says on the tin - highly recommended! |
[2011-12-30] Joshua: Perfect! The developers of this went above and beyond what I expected. Works perfectly, fast, highly customizable, and non-intrusive. If they can do this much with a simple notifier app, I'm looking out for more apps from these guys. |
[2011-12-28] Peter: . . |
[2011-12-03] Lee: Thanh you! Thank you for this app. Works perfectly on the Motorola Razor. |
[2011-12-02] John: This app doesn't function like it once did since gmail was updated to 2.3.5. I contacted developer for a refund with no response. |
[2011-11-23] Andrew: Just what I needed Was looking for something like this for ever since google removed 3rd party access making other apps worthless. Works fantastic |
[2011-11-13] DK: Wonderful An absolute must have if you have more than one gmail account. Worth every penny. Awesome developer who is forced to play google's closed ecosystem |
[2011-11-12] Chard, 33: Don't bother... Can't see sender or subject in notification, no response from developer after 2 inquiries. Do not waste a dollar on this basically useless app |
[2011-10-26] Mizake: Good but thirsty. This is the best widget of its kind on the market, but I've found it's a huge drain on battery life - on my HTC Desire it is constantly at the top of my list for Partial Wake Usage. For that reason, I've reverted to widget-free notifications for now. |
[2011-10-24] Ariel: Was awesome, but doesn't perform well now So sad that Google killed the functionality of this amazing app. LOVED it, but the sync work-around just doesn't hold up for me. Sad. |
[2011-10-09] Rayne: Work now Once i got imap setup in google online all went well. |
[2011-10-07] stealth: Meh... Last gmail update disabled this app, no chance to login anymore. Please fix it. |
[2011-10-06] Admir: stopped working after recent gmail update. counter doesn't refresh after email is marked as read |
[2011-10-02] Zorque: Works great I'd like to be able to change how often it checks for new mail, though. If I could I would make it check less often to save battery life. |
[2011-09-15] Mallory: Pretty good aside from major lag in unread message counters. |
[2011-09-15] Cris: Does its job |
[2011-09-12] Sergey: Unread counter isn't well synchronized - there is some delay.So you've already read the massage but still have non-0 unread counter. |
[2011-09-04] Mikey P: Works great. Recommend over any other Gmail notifier on the market. |
[2011-09-01] MRTV1: Love it. Works EVO 4G |
[2011-08-31] alen: Uh this app simply doesn't work. Update ruined it. DO NOT BUY. EVO 4G |
[2011-08-31] Andy: Very good.works well & very configurable.Use it to notify me of emails from specific source /label.thanks,well worth paying. |
[2011-08-23] Jessika: Just what I was looking for! I needed an app that would notify me when a particular gmail label received mail and no other emails. Works perfectly on my Droid X. |
[2011-08-22] MUZZ: Eurotech CEO BEST gmail notifier, only one that works perfect since no more 3rd party access |
[2011-08-22] Steve: Update made it poor Doesnt work since update. Doesnt remove notification if you go direct to mail and read it and doesnt always notify new mails. |
[2011-08-19] Michael: This app truly does try and keep up. Really does work since Gmail changed it's settings. Well done! HTC Desire Z |
[2011-08-16] Josh: Awesome, with one request Even after the gmail update, it seems to work great for me. I just have one request, and would give five stars if it had it. Gmail Notifier will auto-clear a notification if it realizes that the email(s) in question it was notifying about, are deleted via some other medium. I have a label set up to notify me, but when I read that email through the website, I still have to manually clear the notification. Is this possible to do? |
[2011-08-15] Rex: Thank you for the fix! I rely on this app with 5 gmail accounts!!! |
[2011-08-15] Steven: Works! Unread count as a little slow for updating |
[2011-08-14] Lasher: Love it! Had a different one that was never updated but work until gmail did its sneaky update. Glad this publisher does constant updates :) |
[2011-08-11] Andreas: The developer had amazing dedication and great ethics. His app has been great and he's been beyond responsive. |
[2011-08-10] Blackwasser: Working Great Thank you for keeping it live. |
[2011-08-10] stacy: Favorite app Love it.. My favorite app. Thanx for fixing it!! |
[2011-08-10] the 8/11/2011 Awesome! |
[2011-08-08] Weeble: Great Update after Google screwed up Gmail.... IMAP is slower but it 100 times better then changing accounts all the time |
[2011-08-08] Jennifer: Works perfectly EVO 4G. Thanks :) |
[2011-08-07] Drye: Great app, shame on Google for breaking it. No refund necessary. I'm staying onboard. |
[2011-08-06] Ben: Thanks Latest IMAP update works just fine. |
[2011-08-06] Yahshanah: Downloaded update today. Fairly good. Push is delayed but notifications are back up and running. Tnx developer for the fix... Droid X |
[2011-08-06] Shane: Uninstalled gmail update and works again now! |
[2011-08-04] Dejan: Hasn't been updated since I bought it few months ago. Great app but it needs some improvements |
[2011-08-02] César Danilo: Good app, but FC since last gmail update, waiting for a fix |
[2011-08-02] Donut: I tried uninstall update gmail. Worked on Xperia but not on Samsung. |
[2011-08-01] Kitty: This was my most useful app. I will be keeping it installed with the hope that it can be fixed after Google's short-sighted lock-out. |
[2011-08-01] Mark: Used to love this app, but after the last update it FC's like crazy. POS! |
[2011-08-01] Rob: Would love to see this working with the updated gmail app. Happy to pay a little extra for it! |
[2011-08-01] Matthew: Great while it lasted but google have done an apple and nicked a devs idea. Happy to have paid so little for a great app, fingers crossed for a fix! |
[2011-07-31] Scott: Doesn't work after new Gmail update. Hopefully we'll get an update soon, but if not, no refund required for me. Great app while it lasted. |
[2011-07-31] Zach: Love it |
[2011-07-30] airportcabbie: Developer is doing the right thing The dev of this broken app is refunding customer's money. Wish there were more developers like this. Let's support this guy. THANKS |
[2011-07-30] Deli: Shame it's broken. Much better than Gmail's own notifications. Refund not required. |
[2011-07-30] Isaac: Fix please Was awesome. Now Fc with new Gmail update. Please fix. |
[2011-07-30] Rico: Broke after Gmail update |
[2011-07-29] Sqeegie: Was great until new gmail update The new gmail update came in today and now gmail label Notifier force closes all the time. :-( I love this app too. |
[2011-07-29] Tonya: Force Closing keeps force closing constantly. plzzz fix droid incredible |
[2011-07-29] Alan: Broken Latest Gmail update has broken this app, no longer functions. |
[2011-07-29] Don: Latest gmail update has broken this. Need update please..... |
[2011-07-29] Jef: DON'T install the Gmail update Don't install the gmail update if you want this to keep working--at least until the author updates it. The application won't run now, and since the author's site directs you report bugs from within the application only, there's no way to report it. Otherwise I like the app, but the lack of ability to contact the author outside the app is why it doesn't get 5 stars. |
[2011-07-29] James: Was good but now broken on gmail update on 7/28. Had to uninstall. Plz fix! D2G, Android 2.2. This app is much better than new gmail folder feature. |
[2011-07-29] aura: Great app if you want repeat notifications for email from a specific person! |
[2011-07-29] Caleb: Redundant Updated Gmail app breaks this app and added label syncing. Was great while it lasted! |
[2011-07-29] Subodh: Same here .Updated Gmail app breaks this app .Needs correction .Otherwise useful app if one uses multiple labels frequently |
[2011-07-29] Will: The latest Gmail app update broke this app. Please fix! |
[2011-07-29] Martini: Please fix! |
[2011-07-29] Winston: Well worth it! Great little app that works perfectly! And it's a great deal at 50p!! |
[2011-07-29] Anonymous: This app is NOT redundant, it has way more features than was added to the latest gmail update! I need this app until ALL or more features are added! |
[2011-03-12] J.T.: Great App! but found widget & notification 'bugs' The status-bar notifications this app creates do NOT 'auto-decrement' and clear properly like they do with the native android Gmail app. (e.g. if you get 2 new emails and read only one of them, the notification cancels completely. ALSO, Widgets created with the show "Total Message Count" option are not decremented properly. If previously 'read' emails with the associated widget label are deleted from Gmail, the Total Message Count number does NOT get updated. This results in inaccurate widget total counts. |
