Do you have multipile contacts that share a same phone number? Default Contact will let you select one contact that will always be shown when you receive a call from that number.
If someone calls you using a number that is shared across multipile contacts, for example because they share the same business telephone number, your phone may show you the wrong contact. This can cause a confusing situation where it's not clear who is actually calling you.
The Default Contact application will check all the contacts in your phone and look for ones that have a same number set. You can then select a Default Contact for that number, which from then on will then be shown every time you receive a call from that number. If you have not set a Default Contact for a incoming call, you will see a list of contacts with that number and you can choose one to be used as Default Contact.
You can also use this application to simply find contacts who share the same number without actually enabling the Default Contact functionality.
