This is an app for easily locating the nearest USB deaddrop in your neighbourhood.
Deaddrops are USB keys that are fixed in walls, on bridge railings, in trees, and many other places, allowing for off-line, anonymous file sharing in the public space. It started as an art project in October 2010 by Aram Bartholl, a Berliner living in New York.

Current features include:
- live map showing deaddrop locations (using Google Maps).
- storing of deaddrops for off-line use.
- private notes to add to a stored deaddrop.
- route indication: how to get to that deaddrop.
- search for deaddrops nearest to your current location, nearest to an address, by name, or by id.
- find deaddrop using radar function (external function: requires Radar or Locus apps to work).
- Twitter and blog feeds.
- Deaddrop statistics.
This app is developed for Android 2.1 or later; it does not work on previous versions.

[2011-12-22] A Google User: Good for finding, useless for posting Good for a map locater, lacking in any other features. A future release could allow posting of new dead drops. Since you're probably using your phone to take the pics and get the lat/lon, go ahead and let me post it online. It might be nice to be able to filter the blog and tweeter feed by location, too. |
