Android Adblock (beta) (v. 0.5) Разработано Felix Bechstein |
Inspired by the great Adblock Plus addon for Firefox and Chrome, Android Adblock is an ad-blocking HTTP proxy for your Android device that blocks unwanted ads from websites in your mobile browser.
*NO* root required!
Setup instruction: Set APN's proxy preferences to localhost with the port set in main application.
Please note that Android Adblock doesn't block ads in apps. Also, it is a BETA version, please report bugs at android-adblock.com.
This is an open-source community-project, contributors are welcome!

[2012-08-21] John: Seems not to work at all Xoom wifi Have easylist installed and cannot tell that app does anything at all. |
[2012-08-19] Anonymous: Didn't work Regular adbloc has library of url extensions that aid in blocking ads. Here you have yo do everything yourself and manually type in url extensions. Did not work with native browser, Firefox, orOpera |
[2012-08-18] Ghodmode: not for wifi It works for any connection that you can set a proxy for, but that doesn't include wifi. Also, there's only one very simple filter set up initially. So, most ads will not be blocked without a lot of configuration and a lot of trial-and-error. |
[2012-08-18] Ehsan: No instructions. Dosent work for me. Or maybe i dont know how to use it. |
[2012-08-17] Steve: Doesn't do anything. On nexus 7 using chrome. All you can do is she port and add lists, no other settings to change. Adding easylist block list does nothing. Not 1 and gets blocked. Really needs to have built in block list and be ready for use on install. |
[2012-08-09] Erwin: Malware This is malware Dangerous |
[2012-08-07] Anonymous: Needs to be simpler Good app but the instructions should be simpler |
[2012-08-06] Selwyn: DISAPPOINTING Should not have been released until block list prepared and incorporated by default. Documentation inadequate. This is not suitable for beta release. If this can be made to work convincingly it will be most welcome. |
[2012-08-05] Brian: Doesn't work There is something causing this app to be ineffective. |
[2012-08-04] Wyn: Not worth it Sure it works for some, but not worth the hassle of getting to work on wifi |
[2012-07-20] Justin: Works Works great for me |
[2012-07-20] erin: Unless you are a programmer of some sort This probably isn't what you are looking for |
[2012-07-19] Andrea: Not blocking ads Its not blocking ads like ad block |
[2012-07-06] screw: Sucksbig time worst app todate |
[2012-07-05] Zachary: Almost there If this could support the adblock plus rule format, this app would be much more valuable (easylist works as is, but not very well). This is better at discriminating ads than a hosts style blocker, but much slower. I was able to use proxydroid(root) to implement this systemwide without applying it to itself. Unfortunately it's to slow to be practical. |
[2012-06-27] Mimsy Slopcorner: hmm, something not right It seems to be running awfully slowly on my ICS-based Galaxy S3. It slows down browsing a lot in Aurora and Opera, and sometimes, the proxy just seems to stop, and I have to bring it to the front and restart it.. Maybe some ICS incompatibility? (Also, I am using easylist- is that just taking too much grunt?) Still, looking forward to it running properly, looks very promising. |
[2012-06-15] No: It don't work with LG Optimus Q phones at all.We still see ads.Take care everyone. |
[2012-06-10] Anonymous: It doesn't really work This app didn't really work as good as i thought it would be and not all sorts of ads are blocked.. Plus the filter is too complicated to use. |
[2012-06-10] glenn: Didn't work for me |
[2012-06-06] Roger: No longer works After Galaxy Nexus 4.0.4 update, you can no longer connect through proxy. |
[2012-06-03] +Joost: Handy Each ad blocked is battery time saved :) |
[2012-06-01] Sebastian: No tablet support. Does not work for tablets or any other wifi only device. |
[2012-05-29] bob: fanboy adblock list?? ( a text list for most browsers ) if you could import this, go right to the top !!!! :) |
[2012-05-28] Matthew: Manual??? If you're going to make an ad blocking app you could at least have the block list already configured for the app instead of making the end user hunt it down themselves |
[2012-05-27] Kayden: Droid Incredible- Works Great This is probably the best ad blocker I've found on the play store... |
[2012-05-22] Arcadio: I'm waitin for stable version! Great app |
[2012-05-16] dan: Doesn't work Not integrated with browser so it's basically useless. |
[2012-05-14] Michael: Abandonware Hasn't been update in over two years. Obviously the developer gave up on it. |
[2012-04-22] adam: No lists What's the point if I can't find the block list URL? |
[2012-04-18] John: Autorun Should be good if we didn't have to input the list manually. Would be better if we could import it as a text file or subscribe to one via app. |
[2012-04-17] E. Geno: Only Works Occassionally It seldomly works even when I added URL filter lists that I downloaded from the web. Motorola Xoom Wifi |
[2012-04-15] Simon: Does this work at all? There are no instructions and it doesn't appear to block any ads in chrome beta, dolphin or the default android browser under ice cream sandwich. |
[2012-04-10] Los: does not work properly blocks wanted stuff and do nothing for others |
[2012-04-08] Chris: Sprint 3evo doesn't work Doesn't seem to block anything at all |
[2012-04-08] Chocoking: Fail Complete scam, don't waste time downloading |
[2012-04-08] Wei-Hua: Bad documentation Do not bother yourself to download. |
[2012-03-18] Daniel: Web adds Only blocks adds in web browser. |
[2012-03-08] Tyler: Only For advanced users. Make it like firefox an 5 stars. |
[2012-03-06] Rohit Abraham: Doesn't. Work |
[2012-02-29] Thomas: Sometimes Sometimes works sometimes interferes with some web pages. I wait till New version hits market. EVO 3D. :( |
[2012-02-21] John: Overly complicated Overly complicated and it doesn't even work. |
[2012-02-20] Damian: Ditto Gogola |
[2012-02-16] Michaelle: Yes and no So you can import filters via URL, but it still doesn't work in my stock ics browser. I'll try another browser and update this review later. Edit: So it won't work on a wifi only device. I understand this isn't the fault of the dev and it is just a flaw in Android, but I will remove a star for the dev not giving me a warning and letting me waste my time trying to get this app to work. |
[2012-02-06] Naveen: never install, third class... doesnt work at all, rather destabilises internet content. i never write reviews, but this one is so bad that i had to. total no no |
[2012-02-05] TheMenist: Instructions aren't clear or existent Doesn't do anything |
[2012-01-31] Jack1059: Doesnt work Doesn't work at all. If there's a trick to it, then please provide a guide. |
[2012-01-24] Piero Filippin: Good Blocks a lot of the ads, but it needs a better rules management, autostart and a way to be kept running. |
[2012-01-18] C M: Weak, very weak! What about all the ads in Android, outside the browser?! Pointless really! |
[2012-01-09] Mao: Works great! Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus |
[2011-12-18] William: Good |
[2011-11-17] samuel: Sam Works great. Awesome!!! You have to search online for the ad blocking lists. Copy the url of the list you want and then paste the url into the app. |
[2011-11-10] Dillard: Doesn't work at all Doesn't work and website has no information |

[2011-10-26] dhardy: Good idea, but should be able to subscribe to lists like FF plug-in. Install Firefox instead. |

[2011-10-07] Paul: Rated 5. This appears to get rid of lots of stupid pop ups when browsing. |
[2011-10-03] lord: working Of course setting a apn proxy won't work for wifi, you have to set your wifi proxy as well. Good job guys |
[2011-09-27] Aaron: Doesn't work on mt4gs I added the easylist filter to it and it didn't stop blocking ads |

[2011-09-21] Akhil: Can ny1 tell me hw to set diz app so dat I can block d ads..? |
[2011-08-19] Meaple: I like the concept and it works for me. Subscription lists needs to be in the app so it makes it so much easier to add them. |
[2011-08-13] Jon: Works almost perfect on sprint nexus s Its on par with adblock for chrome - some adds still manage to squeak by. Other than that, works as advertised. |
[2011-08-09] Gordol: This does NOT work with VZW & Sprint phones, per developer response to my bug report. Should state so or be flagged as incompatible. |

[2011-06-30] undrline: As others mentioned need to use Menu>Import and enter url for Easylist filterset. Unfortunately I'm not able to change APN settings on my Optimus V. |
[2011-06-21] Irvin: Too difficult to use properly, not worth my time. |
[2011-06-07] Carm: Bad bad documentation, not easy to set up or use, should be easy to setup and use. Cm7, never got to function after dl proxy crap. Too much hassle. |
[2010-10-29] howard: Doesn't work on WiFi. Doesn't work on most sites even on GPRS. |
[2010-08-28] Gareth: 3 stars for effort. Unfortunately too slow when used with easylist and does not work on wifi ( which likely explains the doesn't work comments). |
[2010-08-18] Duc: I did the import & reboot, nothing change on my browser, is it only work with dolphin? how does it work? wut should I do next? |

[2010-06-12] Erion: Changed settings and added easlist. Does NOT work. Froyo/N1/not rooted |
[2010-06-12] Scott: Doesn't work on droid. Added easylist and rebooted. No documentation! |
