FirstClass is a fully integrated suite of applications designed to enhance communication, collaboration, and knowledge sharing within education and corporate environments. FirstClass takes communication capabilities well beyond standard solutions by integrating a powerful set of features and applications for online collaboration, learning, content sharing, publishing, and social communities.

With FirstClass Mobile, Android device users can access their FirstClass Communities site and:
• Manage their email messages in their account.
• Create new communities, and invite others to join them.
• Make, read, reply to, and monitor posts in communities.
• View shared images, text, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and PDF files.
• Upload photos to a community’s document area.
• Create, view, and update community wikis.
• Search for content, people, and communities.
• Manage their personal profile and My People list.
• Update their status message.
• Tell at a glance the status of persons they are following.
• Add personal blog entries and view others' blogs.

System Prerequisites

The FirstClass Mobile application requires that you have an active account with mobile access privileges enabled, on a FirstClass 11.0 or later based server. You must login to your server's FirstClass Communities (formerly known as Social Workplace) URL. Important: this URL will be a different address from the one you use for your PC/Mac desktop client or regular web client. If you do not know your FirstClass Communities URL, please contact your system administrator.

Doesn't work.... The app won't let me log in, which is weird because it works fine on my PC and my iPod touch. Total waste of time, I'm just glad the app was free.

Needs more control of settings I really need to be able to control what gets push notifications and what doesn't. My employer has like two dozen forums, calendars, groups, etc., and I don't need my *phone* to bother me about all of those. The only thing I want push notifications for is new emails directly to me in my inbox. And if I see a new email and choose to leave it unread, I don't need continuous notifications of the fact either. First Class ought to be able to differentiate between old unread emails and new unread emails.

Works but is VERY basic How can there be no settings menu? No control over notifications. Little to no editing capabilities. Better than nothing, but still highly lacking.

Barely Works It is nice to FINALLY have an Android app that lets you view your FirstClass email. This app needs a lot of work to be usefull. There is no push notification or anything that works to automatically check for new messages. The icons for connected or not connected - what is that? Does it mean you are already connected or does it mean go connect now??? A simple "now online" or "now offline" is what I want to see. How can you tell if this thing is online or connected? I hear that the iPhone app actually works - you instantly get a notification when a new email arrives. Also, maybe have an easy way to read the next email - like fling to the right or left. Maybe a way to mark mutiple emails for delete or as read/unread. This is a good start but sure needs a lot of work to be usefull.

Actually works At first the app didn't work for me, but now it works great somehow. I find that it organizes my mail better than my desktop client does.

Horrible Probably one if the worst email apps out there. It doesn't push notifications and logs out after you go to your home screen. I've tried it on Motorola Atrix 2, HTC Inspire and now GS II Skyrocket. Still sucks.

Not as Advertised This app requires a special service be installed by IT on your FirstClass server, which they will often refuse to do because the iOS 'FirstClass Mobile' app does not require it. That makes this app is completely useless!

buggy and difficult This has never worked without having to do back flips and bother server side admin to make all sorts of fussy settings the ipad version doesn't require. The only saving grace is that after trying the ipad firstclass app, it sucks too. I long for the day when my board moves away from this difficult, buggy cliented, piece of software and goes to the cloud.

first class for droid ,I kept getting the network error too until I found out that the server has to have a different prefix . Instead of using fc. Then my county server I used sm. And it connects right away

Very disappointed I'm very disappointed in this app. I enter my login info and server info and it gets stuck stating "loading" but it never loads. I read some of the reviews and decided to see if there was a different server address for android and there isn't. I love my Samsung Galaxy tablet but wish this would work. Needless to say, I have removed this app.
