Telescope Calculator is a handy astronomy calculator for the amateur astronomer and telescope user for Android.
Enter basic information about your telescope objective (diameter and focal length), and eyepiece (focal length and apparent field angle) and key viewing information is reported:
- Resulting Magnification
- True Field, angle of sky seen through the eyepiece
- Field Transit Time, time for object to cross field in eyepiece
- Exit Pupil, size of virtual aperture that must be smaller than your own eye’s pupil
- Resolving Power, angular resolution
- Power Per Inch of Aperture

[2012-08-10] A Google User: Inaccurate exit pupil size I inputted the info for my spotting scope and it tells me my exit pupil is a mere 2.7mm! Its actually about 20-25mm! |

[2012-05-05] A Google User: You are on right track...some ideas... Useful on my Android...takes place of similar program I have for Windows. Night vision great plus. Ideas for more features. -add ability to find FOV for various CCD chips and different focal length scopes -Save previous inputs to save extra typing....just change one option like eyepiece focal length |

Very useful app. Would be better if last entered parameters (objective diameter.,...etc) are saved on pressing 'submit values' and then exit the program, so that these parameters don't need to be re-entered each time the program is activated. .... understand that this load/save feature is available in the pay version, but seemed that this is not compatible with my device (Samsung Galaxy SII). Wonder why??? |
