Thomas Aquinas was born at his family castle of Roccasecca near the Italian town of Aquino, in about 1225. He was educated at the Benedictine monastery of Monte Cassino and later at the University of Naples. Aquinas was ordained a priest in around 1250, and began teaching at the University of Paris in 1252.

The first bridges were made by nature itself — as simple as a log fallen across a stream or stones in the river.
