[2012-12-14] A Google User: Doesn't work Can't get it to work. Reads the first sentence of one page, then reads the first sentence of the next page. Using ivona |
[2012-12-06] A Google User: I really want this to work This doesn't work with Google TTS, and only sort of works with Inova TTS. But when in get it working, it either reads too slowly or too quickly. The speed slider is unresponsive. Please fix this because it would make my life so much better |
[2012-12-01] A Google User: I want russian language to be here |
[2012-11-30] A Google User: working but I cannot move or slide the player. so I cannot see the words. so may be added a drag or position option |
[2012-11-25] A Google User: Fantastic! This is really great! It uses whatever TTS engine you have installed and active on your Android. I'm using it with Ivona voices and find the pronunciation really good. With the speech capability, I can read a book in the traditional way and if I need to stop reading in order to drive or exercise, I can continue to read the story by listening to it being read to me. Extremely useful! |
[2012-11-18] A Google User: poor apps not working in android 2.2 tablet |
[2012-11-15] A Google User: Works well for Spanish but not for English |
[2012-11-14] A Google User: Doesn't work, nexus 7 As per other reviews, doesn't work asks to download other language dictionaries. |
[2012-10-30] A Google User: Ok but I like it but, I'd like to be able to hear and read at the same time. The tts window doesn't quite support that. |
[2012-10-26] A Google User: Cant open Downloaded but will not open |
[2012-10-16] A Google User: Not working Just hangs on my Nexus7 which really sucks because FB reader is hands down my favorite reader to side load books and short stories that I'm writing. Would love to use tts to see how the dialog reads. |
[2012-10-14] A Google User: Doesn't work with default TTS When I use the plugin all I get is a Google TTS dialogue for downloading additional European languages. After closing the dialogue I can access the controls but only stop the plugin. Asus TF300T with Jelly Bean, set to English UK. Installed TTS languages: English UK, German Fix this and I will update the rating. ;) |
[2012-10-09] A Google User: Does not work just hangs |
[2012-10-06] A Google User: Perfect addition to the best eReader This app works surprisingly well. Not quite an audio book but close enough that you are not distracted by a computer voice. Excellent plugin, thank you so much! |
[2012-10-06] A Google User: NEXUS 7 shows initializing but never loads....great reader though abit slow in loading....uninstalling TTS until.... |
[2012-09-19] A Google User: Doesn't work with default TTS. Works very good with Ivona, but shouldn't default be a priority? |
[2012-09-09] A Google User: Fails to respect Google tts voice settings Why is it in that dam us brat the male UK voice is much better. |
[2012-09-02] A Google User: Crashes every time Using SVOX tts, and it force closes every time I try use it |
[2012-08-28] A Google User: Google tts It won't work with Google tts plz fix it |
[2012-08-21] A Google User: used to work Used to work great with Ivona. After the last update, all it does is lock up the reader completely. |
[2012-08-11] A Google User: Buggy on 4.1 nexus 7 It won't run using the built in android text to speech. Instead I had to download ivona, which IMO sounds inferior. Oddly enough this version will work with ivona but the plus version (not the same dev) will not. |
[2012-07-26] A Google User: Finally! I've been searching and searching for an eBook reader that can read to me on my commute so I don't have to put down my books, this is great. I won't deny that TTS could still use some work, but right now I'm just happy to have the feature at all! |
[2012-07-24] A Google User: Controls It would be great if audio controls were smaller or went to background so you can read while audio is being played. |
[2012-07-16] A Google User: Great plugin Great plugin to FBReader especially combined with IVONA, too bad the window obscures the text, would be nice if the buttons were to appear at the bottom of the screen or something. |
[2012-07-14] A Google User: Wont run on S3 Needs better operating instructions. Wont run on my Samsumg S3 with os 4.0 |
[2012-07-01] A Google User: Liked it! Could've been better. |
[2012-06-07] A Google User: it's a good plugin but TTS+ has more options! |
[2012-05-26] A Google User: Try also TTS+ Plugin for FBReader Implements Bluetooth controls (play/pause/resume, next/previous) and has more useful settings and features. Also free. Search Play Store for "FBReader TTS+ Plugin". Definitely use with higher quality voices like IVONA or at least SVOX. |
[2012-05-17] A Google User: Higher pitch needed Please add control to raise pitch default is too sharp to the ears |
[2012-05-10] A Google User: I couldn't be happier! I've tried many ebook apps & thanks to this plugin and ivonia (amy) text to speech and a sync app i found, I finally have a preferred ebook reader and it's all free which tells you about other paid apps that always freeze and doesn't play text to speech half the time or sync half your books! Thank you so much! |
[2012-04-24] A Google User: Great Combine this with IVONA TTS engine to make it sound great |
[2012-04-14] A Google User: Super Useful feature Use with IVONA voices for great results. Not like audio books, but still very usable. I upgraded to CM9 on HP Touchpad and the wake lock stopped working. Fixed! Five stars. |
[2012-04-11] A Google User: R.H The TTS still has much to improve on still. The voice is painful to listen to even with earphones. |
[2012-04-02] A Google User: Poor Speaks only English despite my default TTS language is set to polish. |
[2012-03-28] A Google User: It's a cute TTS App To me, TTS is not a novel concept. A recent update to the fbreader app itself has fixed a bug I had commented on. The app no longer forgets its plug-in. I like this engine, even though I don't use it often. And my own preferences are for the more lightweight speech engines, even though this plug-in will probably work with most of the back-ends. Nice work. |
[2012-03-27] A Google User: Decent TTS, but.. This really needs to somehow be adapted to run as a service because it stops speaking as soon as the screen timeout occurs. Keeping the screen on permanently whilst on battery is not a solution, so this is really only useful when the device is plugged into a power source and that severely limits it for me. I would love to have books read to me whilst out and about but this currently can't do so. The bug with it only appearing in the FBReader menu until it's used for the first time is a pain too but it's not known whether that's a bug in this plugin or the reader itself. Add a service to it to handle the actual TTS itself and some options to alter speed and pitch and this would be a solid 5 stars. For now it does perform admirably when my phone is on charge. |
[2012-03-24] A Google User: Works great Works great with FB Reader on my Galaxy S i9000 although I have only used it briefly, will report back after I give it a full workout |
[2012-03-13] A Google User: When used with ivona English UK voice, sounds amazing. Wake lock doesn't keep app reading on Evo 3D though |
[2012-03-12] A Google User: Very good. As below, combined with Ivona makes excellent combination for tired eyes! Tts pronunciation sometimes flakey, sometimes amusing but thats the AI not the app! |
[2012-02-10] A Google User: SuPeR cReEpY!¡!¡! <3, <3, <3 it! Not much to say while I and factory resetting my phone for suspended 2.2 homage and super radically ready to download stock tts device sound conduit for tts or the broad spectrum of deaf & blind Android <3ers who read lips, etcetera. Anyway, remember these worsds: |
[2012-02-09] A Google User: Very well But more settings better |
[2012-02-03] A Google User: Ace application This addon works fairly well, needs some polish but overall makes ebooks accessible to people like myself with serious sight issues. |

[2011-06-28] A Google User: When I initiate speak, it just sends me to an app in the market that can't be found, so it can't be used. Disappointed... |

[2011-06-27] A Google User: A really good start. Simple plug-n-go operation. Would be nice to get access to speed and voice type but it is pretty clear once you get used to it. |
[2011-06-27] A Google User: An okay start. Works but has rough edges: 1) Inter-sentence pausing is too long and not configurable. 2) Complains that french language is not available before starting to read my english ebook. 3) Can add awkward pauses in the middle of really long sentences. 4) HUGE pauses (almost a full minute) when screen turns off and locks. |
