[2013-01-28] A Google User: Immediately crashed Nice dictionary, but app crashes when touching hyperlink. Latest fix didn't fix anything. Had to uninstall without refund. Clearly someone at Larousse doesn't want to sell digital dictionaries on android. They have four dictionaries and only their all-French dictionary works. I would pay a lot more money for a comprehensive dictionary that works. |
[2013-01-06] A Google User: A shoddy offering Frequent random crashes on Nexus 7. Poor functionality, eg. Search doesn't recognise verb forms. Wrote detailed feedback to Larousse, but got no reply. Expected a lot more from Larousse. |
[2012-12-19] A Google User: Hypertext doesn't not work on galaxy s3 The app still crushes after clicking on a word within the page |
[2012-12-18] A Google User: Developpeurs devraient se mettre au boulot N'importe quel mot avec "oe" fait planter l'application. Interface lente et inadaptee aux tablettes. Pas de maj depuis des mois. Ca fait pitié en l'état... |
[2012-11-15] A Google User: Important functions not working 1) For the words start with "'re", the app will crash and stop 2) Cannot use the hyperlink and check for other words.. If u click on the link, the app will stop... Pls fix the bugs asap, afterall, your app is not cheap, i expect better quality... |
[2012-11-15] A Google User: Needs lots of improvement! Looking for some words makes it crash and force closes the app. The pronunciation always fails saying it needs to be connected to the Internet!!! After a year they still have not improved the app a bit, typical French! Not recommended unless they come up with major improvements! |
[2012-11-06] A Google User: Not fit for purpose. After seeing comments from months ago about crashes when searching on reflexive verbs I thought they must have fixed things by now. They haven't. Will be attempting to get my money back. Do not buy - you have been warned! |
[2012-09-18] A Google User: Excellent Merci de d'adapter l'image de fond au mode paysage des tablettes. |
[2012-09-11] A Google User: Can you say "crash" This app is typically French. It doesn't work half the time and is not seriously thought out. Has great potential, but very poorly programmed. The problems with it have been known for years, but never fixed (like French government). This is the famous Larousse? What good are the features the description touts when it crashes if you try any of them? |
[2012-08-29] A Google User: Not sure.... I am trying to replace my Sharp electronic dictionary. Performance seems good, but ap closes when I try to hyperlink. Great verb conjugation tool, but verb forms not in the dictionary, so not great for beginners. Am disappointed. |
[2012-08-23] A Google User: Good but not customised for tablet I love the app but could u optimize for tablets as well four stars until updated :) |
[2012-08-18] A Google User: Cannot change the font size Fonts are too small and there's no way to change the font size. |
[2012-07-18] A Google User: Crash crash crash Please update this software, I bought two Larouse dictionaries (en/fr & francais) both crash frequently. I need this for a french class, and i can tell that if they both worked properly, they would be excellent. They are much better than the free versions I tried, in terms of logic and completeness. So I remain optomistic, but until these products are upgraded for my 10.1 galaxy tab, I am sad and unhappy. |
[2012-07-10] A Google User: Almost awesome Crashes all the time! Cannot look up verbs with pronouns with an apostrophe or CRASH. Lots of random crashes too. And I know it's not my phone. |
[2012-06-15] A Google User: a far cry from the iphone version as I've just switched from an iphone 3gs to the galaxy note, I've had this app on both os's. this one crashes when I look up "s' " verbs and isn't as beautifully designed as the other. If I had known sooner that there was only a 15min refund window on this I would've refunded it. |

[2012-06-06] A Google User: BJ App is good with continuous wifi connection, and extremely frustrating without wifi or perhaps data roaming (which I don't use). On first use app asks to download data "40MB" and does so. After 100% done (or so it says!) there is a folder on the internal memory of the phone (as seen through Windows) named 'Larousse' which was about 125MB first time around if I remember correctly. Now according to the info on the Market, the app will work offline, except for pronunciation. With that much data it should! But there is a catch - as you drive through rural Auvergne or wherever without a connection and want to look up a word, it may OR MAY NOT be in the database. If it is, it works fine. If it's not, the app force closes and on restart wants to go online to download more data. This goes on for weeks as gaps in the database are filled WHEN YOU HAVE A WIFI CONNECTION. So if you want an English-French-English Translator that works offline you had better be continuously online using this for weeks? or months? to fill in all the gaps in the database to get your money's worth with this one. If you download it in one one day and try to use it offline you will be as frustrated as I was. |
[2012-05-27] A Google User: Saved my life in Paris Best €5 ever spent on an app. This gizmo was super handy while navigating Paris and communicating with fracophone-only Parisians. Recorded pronounciations requires Internet access. |
[2012-03-15] A Google User: Crashes whenever you use an apostrophe The dictionary is comprehensive, with lots of sample phrases, but it crashes anytime you use an apostrophe. Since the dictionary separates the regular and reflexive versions of the same verb, this means you can't look up any reflexive verbs that begin with a vowel (i.e., s'). Or expressions beginning d'. And there are lots. I write Larousse about this a while ago, and hoped they would fix it. But they haven't. I'd give the dictionary a 5 if it weren't for this major bug. |
[2012-03-06] A Google User: Good but crashes Very useful and quick for looking up French or English words. Good verb conjugation lookup for French. Lacking in searching by all conjugations. Also crashes frequently |
[2012-02-26] A Google User: Great Replacement for My Franklin Larousse For years, I have carried the Franklin-Larousse French-English electronic dictionaries on my travels to France. Now I have the same dictionary with greater capability at lower cost on my phone. I no longer have to carry the separate dictionary. Moreover, this one has the French pronunciation. I love and am delighted with it. |
[2012-01-29] A Google User: Larousse Très bien |
[2012-01-25] A Google User: Very good app Love having this on the phone instead of paperback! If you're looking for more esoteric words, get the French-French version that's also available. |
[2012-01-20] A Google User: Missing iPhone features I've bought this app after getting used to it on my iPhone. Unfortunately , some features are missing here, things that can be updated relatively easily, but the publisher doesn't seem to care much.. Still, a good app |
[2012-01-08] A Google User: Maybe ok for beginners I've so far drawn more blanks than not when I've used this for looking up words while reading French - mostly literary, maybe it's better with colloquial French. It doesn't recognise conjugations either. So far its been a waste of money for me - I get better results using google search. I also find the search function interface not very user friendly - though this may be my inexperience However I have less trouble with other apps |
[2012-01-02] A Google User: A must have, despite a bug. On the latest Android (ICS), you can't search on accented characters. Fortunately entering the non-accented character matches. Ex, entering "ça" fails to find ça, but "ca" will. |
[2011-12-12] A Google User: It would be 4 or 5 stars but force-closing after entering an apostrophe is inexcusable. How can I search for reflexive s'-verbs? Did anyone test this app? |
[2011-12-06] A Google User: Not bad. Lots of words, but you can't search for a conjugated verb, i.e. 'sais', and fit a force close on entry of 's''. |
[2011-12-05] A Google User: Mostly Good Crashes Forced closed when I typed "s'" (s and single quote). Shouldn't die when merely typing in text - that's very worrisome) Needs pronunciations. |
[2011-11-28] A Google User: exceeds expectations this is a steal at $7. look no further. also check out the french dictionary for the same price. |
