Cthulhoid wants to be your mobile companion for all things related to the Cthulhu Mythos and horror writer H.P. Lovecraft. It contains the complete works of H.P. Lovecraft, including stories, poetry and essays, a directory of public domain H.P. Lovecraft audiobooks. a categorized index of Wikipedia pages related to the Cthulhu mythos and a detailed timeline of the Cthulhu Mythos. The UI is optimized for phones.

Unless your device has pre-installed software for this, you will need to install an e-reader app for viewing the eBooks and an audio player to listen to audiobooks.

Important: if you are having problems opening the eBooks, this is very likely because your eReader software has trouble opening the EPUB files (which are contained within the app and copied to the SD card to make them available to other software), for whatever reasons. If this keeps happening, please try a different eReader software (such as the free Aldiko reader) and check in your system settings which app is configured for opening EPUB eBooks by default.

Also please email me cthulhoid@handtwerk.de if you're having any problems using the app.

This app needs permissions to access the internet in order to download the audio recordings and write access to external storage (SD card) to export resources to make them available to other (viewer) apps. Cthulhoid doesn't use ads and doesn't record or transmit any usage or user data.

Content and user interface of this app are english only! Please don't give me a hard time because the stories are in english, I'm not a translator and translated versions are usually not in the public domain.

Deadicated But Flawed Audio files downloaded directly from this app will only play while the app is open. And finding those files on your SD card can be problematic-their file names having been changed into seemingly random alphanumeric strings. There is a workaround. Select website instead of download to get files you can treat normally. Cthulhu, Cthulhu, Cthulhu thrice I speak your name and summon thee.

Rather amazing I must said that I truly love the app. It is certainly useful when I wish to listen to one of Lovecraft's amazing stories on my way home from school. But, would I he correct in assuming that the audio recordings are saved to internal memory? In my opinion this is an unwanted limitation. It would be awesome to be able to save to SD.

Very fun app!!! This app is a real must have for ANY HP Lovecraft fan. One serious issue though. When loading text on Aldiko's shelf it fails to load. The content is there the book won't open. Probably a format or a permission issue I suppose.

Can't open writings Every time i try to open up any of the writings it tells me i don't have an e-reader installed, even though i actually have several. Very frustrating as i bet this could be a great app.

Brilliant! An absolutely fantastic app! So simple, just does what it says. A huge collection of Lovecraft's works. Initially I did have problems with the poetry not working at all, so I tested it through a number of reading apps and found Moon Reader solves the issue, and displays it perfectly! 5 stars, wish there were more like this for my other favourite authors!

Good, couple of issues On my HTC, if you try to open a book with the basic Reader app then you just get a notification saying "Import books" which you can't get rid of,even by restarting the phone. Selecting eg Moon reader opens the book instantly. Also, spelling is ropey, at least on my randomly opened book. Otherwise fine.
